The .50BMGs around here (New Zealand), well the ones I've seen for sale, are single shot bolt action with a True-Flite match barrel http://www.truefliteriflebarrels.co.nz/4598.html that has some sort of built in compensator on the end.

Yep, those are the sort i'm talking about. The M-82/107(barret for your civvies) has a recoiling barrel mechanism and is gas operated, so the recoil is greatly reduced through the action. When you throw in the effect of the comp and the sheer mass of the beast, it's really quite a controllable weapon.
But forget humping one any distance unless you're in Airborne Ranger type shape. LOL. |
