Medical queston

So monday night I felt a sore throat coming through, tuesday it hit me full force. Went to the doc's had a fever of 101.6 it was up from like 99.8 from that morning. The doc said i have the flu. Well the weird part; Wednesday comes around and i feel pretty good. headache goes away, sinus, everything. So this morning goes even better. I went to work for couple hours, then went to physical therapy. by the time i ended my PP thing i walk out and you could totally hear the sinus come back. So i get back home and decided to take a nap. After about 4 hrs I wake up and feel like ****, just like the other day.

sorry for the rant, but is that normal?

I think this is why health care is so expensive.

You sleep a lot when you are sick because you can't get a good nights rest. I'm not a Dr or do I pretend to be one. BUT, what has worked for my kids when they are sick, I've never tried it personally, is to put Vick's 44 rub on the bottom of their feet and put them to bed with socks on. When they would normally wake up a ton of times they wouldn't wake up at all after doing this. Hey if you feel bad enough you'll try anything! Anyways they got over sicknesses a lot quicker. If you try it let me know how it works on adults too... Feel better soon!

its actually good that you're running a fever... it means your body is fighting the sickness... thats why you feel like crap for a while.. then get really sick.. then all of a sudden you feel alot better... drink alot of fluids.. if you have any medic buddies you can get an iv from them... pump about a bag or two.. that'll help you out also... i do it for my soldiers when they are sick... take tylenol... not to much gatorade as it can dehydrate you... rest up and let it run its course... spit out the crap when you cough it up or snort it out of your nose.. when it stays in your throat it keeps you sicker longer... lol....

Yes, its very common for a large number of infections to behave like that in war with your immune defense system. Actually, its rather the other way around.

I'm on day seven of this crap. Woke up last Saturday morning with the chills and a sore throat, and it has gotten much better/worse several times since. Yesterday I thought I was almost over it with just a bit a tenderness in the throat. Now it's 4 am, and I can't sleep it hurts so damn bad. The pain in the throat seems to more muscular than a scratchy feeling from within. I have never had one that hurts this bad, the pain shoots all the way up to my ears.

Fluids, lots of them, cough drops, and ibuprofen has made some of the misery subside for a few hours at a time for me. I've also been doing salt water nasal baths, not the neti pot bs, but something that can actually flush up to the inner ears. The nasal congestion is all but gone for me. My temp is at 98.7 right now, but I have seen as high as 100.6, but I didn't start checking it until Wednesday.

At least I've been able to keep my appetite and haven't been stuck in the bathroom all week.

Take care.

I'm a smoker and nasal congestion was a given for me with colds and flu. No more since I started using saltwater washes. It helps like nothing else.
I'd suggest plenty of hot drinks with lots of lemon and orange juice and paracetemol.
Also good is a hot toddy with equal parts whiskey and lemon juice, enough honey to take the acidity of the lemon juice away and enough hot water to make it HOT.

Dont know why ppl seek medical advice on internet forums

First ALWAYS ALWAYS seek advice from your own doctor, he has your full medical recirds/meds etc and knows you.

But to answer a question PURLY on a generic plane.

Cold/flu's/ virus, always effects your sinus, you have to drink plenty of fluid, (usually 2 pints a day) more if you are ill.

Probably the sinus' were inflammed and take time to settle down, also depends on what strain you had.

It's probably normal.

Take Medical advice and if need be a second opionon from a qualified proffesional

look in the back of your throat for white "bumps" we call it thrash or something like that... if its there then its an infection of some sort... if you have slightly raised bumps on your body then it may be strep throat... most of the symptoms you describe are strep throat related.... all except the high temp... is your snot and mucus like a dark green or a brownish color?? and it hurts like hell when you swallow?? and you're making quite a bit of saliva???

Have you had your colon orally cleansed recently? That might help.

As we've learned today, oral colon cleansing will cure anything.

I went from vomiting to diarreha to appendix removal. Basically I couldn't drink anything for 3 days because it would quickly exit the body in some unpleasant fashion. The water after the surgery tasted so damn good I didn't care about the pain.

Just be glad you don't have kids. I have two kids with ear infections in both ears that don't sleep, I have a cold, and my wife has a sore throat and has lost her voice. Actually, that isn't half bad.

if your saliva is "bubbly" and "thick" probably dehydration... its hard to tell from not seeing it... do you have that white thrash in the back of your throat?? did your doctor prescribe you antibiotics or did he just say to take tylenol and stuff?? try gargling salt and warm water... it helps...

yeah he was probably checking for strep and what not...he would have most likely told you if you had thrash back there as its pretty easy to see... basically you're already doing everything you can... plenty of rest and let it run its course.. is your temp any higher than last time.. take your temp right before your next dose of tylenol as its more accurate... i'm an army medic not a doctor... lol... so its the basics and field medicine that i know... if you had hemaroids you can chew tobacco and put it on them.. field remedy... haha...
