Ford F250 MPG
Speeder had asked previously what type of mpg I'm getting in my truck. I traded my 99 F250 ext. cab 4x4 diesel and since the only engine options were the 5.4 V8, Diesel, and V-10, I opted for the V-10 in my 06 F250 SD ext. cab 4x4. At the time I wasn't too concerned as we had gas cards, but we recently gave those up as part of a restructuring--so I had to make my first fill-up out-of-pocket on the truck this past week.
I averaged 13-14 MPG--which isn't great, but not terrible considering in that time I did some heavy hauling and drove a combined highway/city--not really nursing it along either--lots of "go pedal" . Truck has 35K miles now.

I am averaging a little over 18MPG in my F350 diesel. I have a Bullydog chip and keep the tire pressure at 54psi all around.

My father in law has an earlier F250 (2000?). V10, 4x4, crew cab, short bed. He typically gets about 8 MPG around town and 12 MPG on the highway, give or take. It's somewhere around 150k now, and except for a few accessories no longer working still running well. Engine and transmission are sound, even with some heavy towing. Just another data point.

hmm, i just did 800 km with 50 liters in my little thing
38 mpg, and i wasn't even trying...hell, most of it was well over the speed limit and i'm busy moving house, so lot's of short drives up and down, fully loaded... Still more then bmw advertises..54mpg... i don't think that's doable unless i fill it up on top of a mountain, and drive nothing but down

Since it's your first fill, I'd be interested to see what you get after more data. The way the Super Duty tanks are shaped, it is very easy to 'miss' several gallons if you just fill it 'til it clicks. If you fill to the same visual level in the filler neck each and every time, you should get an accurate calculation.

My Super Duty truck with a V-10 has never performed better than 10-12 mpg while driving unloaded at near the speed limit. I just towed a trailer to FL and back to Atlanta and averaged 7.31 mpg (never over the speed limit).
I don't know how your are getting 13-14 mpg. But I didn't buy the truck for its gas mileage. I bought it to safely tow a heavy load.
