We are both retired. I just yell downstairs.

I call her in the morning once I know the kids are awake. I leave before they wake during the week. I will usually call her in the afternoon to let her know what time I will be home for dinner.

When I had my Black Berry we would email more than talk.

Nothing like getting hollered at via email for something stupid I did the night before. the nice thing is that you don't need to reply. :D

If one of us is having a bad day, we call to provide support for one another.

I'm pretty sure we are soulmates.

I talk to my Stock Broker at least once a day and sometimes more now to hold my hand.

VINMAN 03-15-2009 03:30 PM

We will call each other at work only out of necessity. If it was up to her she would call me 20 times a day, just to say hello.
I hate the phone. I hate talking on the phone.

Zero (usually) to a couple times a day, depending on if there is something we need to talk about. If it is more than 2 calls and/or more than a 1 minute call, that's unusual. We tend to IM and email more than call.

Last time I spoke to my wife on the phone..the rotary phone was your only choice and BlackBerry was a fruit for pies and cereal.

i talk to my wife once a day, usually, while she is at work. very rarely will i call her a second time and only if something has come up. i work nights and i work in a clinical setting, so she doesn't call me at work.

We call each other, whoever gets the chance, once a day just to say hi. Usually around noon.

She normally looks for me to call since I am very busy at work. Since laying off the entire company I wear 5 hats. I hit the field in the a.m. until 1-2 in the afternoon. I normally call her on the way into the office, since I am the passenger in the work truck.

My co-worker gets 3-6 calls a day. Sometimes I think they are discussing BM's. yuck.

onewhippedpuppy 03-15-2009 06:52 PM

Average 2x per day. But there's usually a point. The few times she calls me bored I cut it off pretty quickly.

with a handle of "onewhippedpuppy" I'd of thought you'd have taken the cake here? Ha!

Hate the phone?
You gotta just change your frame of mind; I mean seriously; who is gonna "LIKE" the phone?
I call it the "cash register"; that way when it rings and I call it that, it changes my frame of mind in answering it. If I dont want to answer it, I shut it off.

I also have the "mission impossible" theme song for a ring tone; Ha! I answer it "Mission Possible Headquarters". Try it.

Same here. I despise the telephone.

With VOIP and the use of computers, your employer can see how much time is devoted to personal phone calls. Just like they can determine which websites and how much time is used by an employee cruising the net or posting on Pelican BBS.

You may want to change your habit. I don't call Mrs. Ruf at all while I am working.

she goes thru spells. sometimes its to tell me she walked across the floor:D, well not really, but close. then it might be once a day. she is busier with the new store now. strange, sometimes i will stop and think, you know she has not called me today and then the phone rings. i guess after 20 years you get to know someone.
what really bugs me is she might call on the way home to talk about something that we could talk about at home, even though she will be home in a few minutes.
she is not a needy person by any means, just rattles on about stuff, usually a one sided conversation.

legion 03-16-2009 07:53 AM

Once or twice a month.

I also suffer this too on occasion. She thinks I'm being 'curt' when I tell her to quit yakking & just get home sooner. It looks like we have a cell driving ban coming so that should curb this impulse.

We have4 a cell ban for the last couple of years and I still see people yapping while they are drivinbg or is it driving while they are yapping. Even the cops are yapping and they are suppose to enforce the no cell phone while driving ban.

asphaltgambler 03-17-2009 10:10 AM

We talk about once a day; the subject usually surrounding dinner, which roast to buy, sometimes a really interesting subject she heard on the radio. Other than that we are pretty normal

DasBoot 03-21-2009 03:25 PM

I had to put a stop to my g/f calling several times a day.

I explained it this way: If the house is on fire and you can get out safely, don't call me. If the house is on fire and you can't get out, call the fire dept. If the house is on fire, you can't get out and the fire dept. is busy, THEN you can call me.

She's afraid to call me now and I like it that way!

The first thing my employees learn: No personal calls/texting.
