Has anyone else noticed?

I go to the bank, every employee greets me.
I go to "Best Buy" they are so friendly and helpful.
I go anywhere, and the customer service is changing for the better in these times.
Has anyone else noticed the ramped up friendliness in retail ect.

I find it refreshing to say the least.

True that.

I think I remember several threads from 2-3 years ago where people were lamenting how lousy customer service had gotten during the "boom" times. They were just taking any old person they could dredge up to put warm bodies into slots. I've noticed that the quality of service has perceptibly gotten better in restaurants, retail stores, etc. as of late even if the products have not.

My wife complains a lot less these days about employees "jerking her around" with respect to last-minute call-outs, unjustified absences, etc. A few still do it, but nowhere near the extent of what she used to have to put up with... Maybe that's one positive thing.

Seems like the local Home Depots have a greeter or two stationed at the entrance all the time now.

The Best Buy near me has had awesome customer service and really changed my opinion of them.

Found out from a neighbor that it is one of their model stores where they try new stuff.

Improved customer service was a mandate.

The store is never empty.

It bugs me when they greet me. I don,t know why, but it does.

We have a local chain here, Meijer, that someone greets you over the mic when you are the gas pumps.

"Welcome to Meijer pump # 1, have a great day."

Bite me.

if I need help I will ask. Otherwise, leave me alone.

The only thing that I notice is that when I go into a store solely to browse around, I am practically assaulted by sales people, but I just want to be left alone. Conversely, the times I have actually wanted or needed help, it is impossible to find anyone.

I'm always in HD these days (there are two within a few miles of me), and the past few times, I swear I've been asked at least 4-5 times if I needed any help finding anything...maybe I just appeared to be lost . No one at the entrances, but I've definitely noticed a change...

I stopped at one of those when I was up working in Seattle last summer, John. I thought it was a joke. It wasn't! The girl definately had a bikini on! She also told me that when business is slow, they take turns walking out front and waving at traffic.

Good for business, bad for traffic crashes!

Coffee was great.

They are all super nice, because most of the newest employees at Best Buy and Home Depot and Target are fresh from getting fired in their middle- and upper-level management jobs. They're just psyched to be working at all.

All it's going to do is force the booger-pickers further down the ladder into fast food, where they'll be making your double-decker tacos and Big Macs.

I walked into Sears through the appliance entrance. I felt like I was on a red carpet or something. Some hungry looking salesfolk looking for a buyer.

I live in a town with 3 stop lights, 16K people. I tell people planning to move here that they better be prepared to spend at least an extra 15 minutes longer to do their tasks because you'll constantly be running into people that you know and you'll need the extra time to stop and say hello.

One of the best parts of living in a small town; people are more friendly and definately more accountable for their actions.

When I go to the "Big Cities" nearby; like Kamloops or Kelowna that have over 150K people and stores like Walmart & Costco, I always find the people just as friendly and they are usually surprised at how friendly we all are; Ha, imagine?

Me too. I won't go to my local Ace Hardware unless I NEED to...they're too freaking nice. I don't want to have to convince the old men working there that, yes, I can actually find a bolt myself.

I go to Home Depot where they don't even recognize that there are customers inside. I hate to go there, I'd rather support my locally owned and somewhat independent hardware store, but I can't handle the excessive service there
