I'm getting back into music tonight

I'm returning to the local college to play in their jazz big band.

I look forward to playing my trombone again after a good five year break.
It'll take a while to get my range back, but I'll have no problem keeping time or reading music. That's like getting back on a bike.

Playing music, in my case guitar and piano, was always my number one activity for happiness and harmony. Particularly doing my own material in a band setting.

I expect we will get a You tube link shortly.

That's cool.

I was thinking about something similar last weekend although my vision had me playing in an 80's tribute rock band.

My drums are packed away in the road cases, just in case.

It MUST be done...

What do you call a guy who knows how to play a trombone and doesn't?
A gentleman.

How can you tell that a kid on a playground is a trombonist's kid?
He can't swing and he complains about the slide.

What's the difference between a frog driving a car and a trombonist driving a car?
The frog may be on his way to a gig.

How do you make a trombone sound better?
Run it over with a lawnmower.

And, most appropriately for this thread.....
How many trombone players does it take to tile a floor?
One, if you slice him thinly enough!

College big bands are a hoot - I played in one during grad school. Have fun and don't let the trumpet players drive you batty (they're nuts...)

How can you tell a trombone player? He has the pizza hut delivery car.

How do you get a trombone player off your front porch?

Pay him for the pizza.')

What's the difference between a trombone and a harmonica?

On a harmonica only half the notes suck.

What's the difference between a trombonist and a large pizza?

A large pizza can feed a family of 4

What do you call a trombonist with an answering machine, pager, cell phone or blackberry?

An optimist

What do you call 10,000 trombones at the bottom of the ocean?

A good start.

(But I fear you would end up with 10,000 "rusty trombones"...not a nice thought)

Yes, but we're bottom feeders, so we know how to deal wit' it!

(Just to show that I have a "kind side", I'll diss my own primary horn here while elevating the trombonist

How do you make a trombone sound like a french horn?

Stick your hand in the bell and play lots of wrong notes.
