Keeping up with the Bubba's

My local Police Department just added a new tool to their traffic enforcement arsenal. Hoover has a large tax base and can certainly afford to pay for the maintenance...
(seized in a drug raid)

...and so as to not be outdone by the wealthier City of Hoover, the City of Homewood has just one-upped Hoover...
(donated by some attorney with one too many Porsches)

...I don't really think Homewood has any idea of how much the maintenance will cost on that!

On that top photo, doesn't it say "SEIZED" in the upper windshield tint?

Got any local newpaper story links on these?

When I was growing up the local DARE program had a Corvette painted up like a cop car. It was seized during a drug bust. Me thinks those cars were free.

Looks like the Hoover Fire Department is getting with the program as well!

One of the Departments here in OK seized a BMW X5 once. a 911 will make a great pursuit vehicle tho.

For all these "seized" cars and homes and boats and all the rest. I wonder how many have outstanding loans or liens against them??

And I wonder if the county budgets contain enough to maintain a 996??

More BS grandstanding at every level of government. Why don't they just fix the potholes?

Any property seized by law enforcement should be donated to charity!

Including traffic fine revenue. Imagine how fast they'd switch to making the roads safe again instead of collecting taxes.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know where cash seized in drug raids actually goes?

Around here, the LE depts. get to keep it. It was on the local news the other day where they had purchased a new plane (for searches, locating pot farms, etc.) and still had over 1 million on hand. They may only use it to purchase "toys" though and can't use the $ for things like putting more officers on the streets.
Ironically, the other weekday morning, I was cutting through a very nice neighborhood at 10 am on a Thur. morning (virtually no traffic during those times), and damn if I didn't run into a license check with 3 cars, 2 motorcycles, and 8 cops standing around...priorities .

Hey kids check out the cops new Porsche! When you grow up you can drive a 911 too, either by selling drugs and buying one or simply become a cop and seize one...

Too bad the money LE depts. seize is not deducted from the next year's budget.
