Sitting here "working" a little while on vacation. Tears rollings down, as I read this, and now my dad is reading (crying) over my shoulder. We've had a total of 5 Brittanys between us, 2 still with us. I was sitting on the dock watching them swim last night, and got a sudden ache in my chest over the thought of what I'd do if they left me. Our Darby and Bailey bring our family so much joy that it is immeasurable.

I am so sorry for your loss, and my father wants you to know that he feels your pain having just lost his Millie over Christmas. It sounds like your Abby was loved.

My God what a time for this thread to crop back up. I had to say good bye to my Niki yesterday. A beautiful sweet what I called a French Vanilla Retriever. She was a mix between a retriever and husky with all her fur the color of french vanilla ice cream. I have posted pictures of her on these pages. I would again now but I am on my laptop in a hotel room and have none on it.
I had to sign a release stating in part that she had not bitten anyone in the past 10 months. I told the vet she didn't bite anyone in her 11 years. I woke up this morning waiting to hear her shake, waking up, it never happened. She sounded like a rug shaking when she woke up or was wet. She will be missed.

Oh man, sorry to hear about all of these dogs. When I die, I want to go where my dogs go.

Amazing how attached we get to these critters, isn't it? We lost our 13 year old mixed breed clown a few month ago. I never really thought about how hard that day would be. It was made a bit worse when the vet insisted on giving her a quick physical before putting her down. I understand his reasoning and have forgiven him for the pain he put her through in her final minutes, but I could have done without that part of the process.

Condolences sent to all who have lost their beloved family members..
We have lost a few over the last 2 years, "Fritz" my dads companion of 16 years and "Star" my Moms companion for 12 years.. I know we all have experienced more love in our families as a result of these loving animals.
God Speed to all of them and we'll see you on the other side. Thank goodness we have the digital advancements these days to record them at their best, most hilarious and loving moments!

David, she was obviously a well loved & well cared for pup....take pride in that, because she'll forever be in your memory.
