What a shame. First big name skier in a while to get nailed since Doug Coombs left the slopes a few years ago. Do a google search on "extreme skier death" (I know, pretty morbid) and there are many more. Many of those are young jumping off cliffs to make a name for themselves but ending up dead. This is the old record but still amazing he didnt end up dead. Check out how he landed:

Live hard, die young, leave a pretty corpse.

Someone (who I've never heard of) basically committed suicide by doing something extremely stupid and dangerous, and people mourn that as a tragedy? You had to know it was inevitable.

Very interesting - and very sad. Some people in this world are extremely narrowminded and bitter that the world does not conform to their limited perception of what is acceptable behavior and have no respect, but rather often a seething hatred for that which they are unable or unwilling to consider and attempt to comprehend. These people are generally mean spirited and self centered, which makes them a sad and unhappy lot with nothing positive to contribute to this world beyond their immediate tight circle of like minded friends, if they have friends. Very sad indeed.

Death is inevitable...how you fill the time between birth and death is what makes it a "life". Some people need to get one and quit criticizing things other do in the pursuit of their lives.

I thought his definition of crazy was interesting. He was called crazy because of the risks he took. But he thought that those who put on a suit and worked in skyscrapers in the big cities were the crazy ones. As far as he was concerned, the skyscraper people had already given up their life. Unlike them, he had a life.

WE are the ones being morbid? I think its the other way around. You guys think that some jerk who left behind a wife and a small child doing something this dangerous is a great guy. I don't.
