I stayed at the same Holiday Inn last week, did your filters look like this?:

I never got into the filters there. But probably so. The weather was so nice I didn't run anything while I was there. The city broke a water main during the night before we checked out so no running water on Saturday. Good thing we all got cleaned up the night before our trip back. Our safety lock, like the old chains and slider type, broke too. That was scary because my 4yr old pulled the door open and it broke apart. So it wouldn't be hard for someone to bust their way in.
