stupid cat.

So i moved house last weekend... 3 miles or so to my own place.

Day 1 , moved , Cat went in hiding upstairs
Day 2, cat still in hiding
Night 2, mowooaoowowowowowowowowowoowowowowo
then comes down, walks up to me
MOAAAAWWOWOWOWOOWOOAOAOWOWOWOWOWWO
@#$@#$@
I get out a water sprayer for plants
MOAW splash
5 minutes later, he's back at it
No sleep

day 3, cat back in hiding.
night 3, see night 2
No sleep

Day 4, cat back in hiding, comes downstairs a few time
Seems to be adjusting a bit.
Backdoor open, with supervision, doesn't come out
night 4, same old same old.

Day 5, All good, walks around, sits on the window sill watching the street
Walks out the back a few times, but not to far

evening 5, walking around in the backyard a bit, it's walled, and fenced in the back,
i go inside for one second, and he makes a break for it...

Now it's obvious he was just intentionally wearing me down with sleep deprivation, to make me drop my guard, leaving him an escape route.
Let's hope he has a decent sense of direction, and enough street smarts to carry him back to the old house, for me to collect him...

The young'n, Boris, on the right, he's been brilliant, he adapted on day 1, when i opened the door in the back, he walked around a bit, didn't do anything stupid, just walks, snifs, then goes back indoors...

Damn Bubba, keep your head down , watch left and right when you cross the street, and see you in a day or two at the old house...or just come back to the new place...

Luckily he's "fixed" , won't roam, or chase the girls... he's very cautious by nature, bit antisocial when it comes to people and other critters...If he can't kill it, he doesn't like hanging out with it either.
Sucks knowing he's out there somewhere, my buddy of 4 years, at least Boris is still around or i'de be really bummed out in an otherwise empty house...

thx for the offer, but he's a trained ninja, travel by night, lay low by day
I doubt he would get himself caught by a flying snack

The 'flying snack' is in tip top shape these days, even learned a little ninja 'imself. I even have a couch pillow that is no longer a virgin.

That's nice, he'll have to be in shape for the fight we still have to arrange some day, once Bubba feels like coming home...
There's always Boris as a backup, but the arrangement was for Bubba to fight, Boris is still to young, hasn't got enough muscle or experience yet (plenty of talent though).

We really hope that Bubba returns safely.

I'm not sure what this means, but Skyler was snickering under his blankets as I read the part about Boris as a backup... It was kinda creepy.

You can inform Skyler, that Boris has been specialising on flying critters since day one, whereas Bubba is an all rounder...

Boris already brought home a magpie a month or so ago...and he ain't one year old yet.
just to put things in perspective...

Do check at the old house...cats "imprint" to a location...takes them some time to adapt to new surroundings. Good luck...hope you get him back. They do have a way of worming into your heart, don't they?

I feel your pain... $hithead.... I mean little lord Scupper my spoiled house cat got out a couple weeks ago. Dad came by my house when I wasn't there to pick up a power tool I had borrowed and decided the latch on the door wasn't just right so he took the time to fix it. Of course he had to leave the door open while he worked on it and away went Scupper. Problem being Scupper is a spoiled indoor cat with very little street smarts.

Fortunately by day three at midnight he decided he had enough of the great outdoors and came knocking on the door... and ran straight past me to the water bowl.

I sure Bubba will also come to the realization of what a sweet deal he has at your place and return.

i went to former neighbour today, he has my number and knows what to look for,
also got permission of the former landlord, to go check the garden over the weekend, new renters won't show up till monday...

it's a 5km distance, mostly farmland with houses, just one busier road... Bubba should have the skills to make that hike, if he manages to navigate in the right direction...
And older cats should be better at it then young ones... so confidence is high...

Also, he's chipped, so if anybody does find him and sends him to a vet, his number should come up.
Although it's a dutch registration, if they find a chip ID, i would expect them to check the neighboring DB's if he doesn't register locally
I've seen to many news articles about cats found thousands of miles out of the normal area

i'm worried about numnuts, but i have faith in the little bugger and his return

Do you have to change it out when you get the emissions check?

I hope you get him back quick. I really hate when I see "lost pet" signs up in the neighborhood. I always picture some 6 year old kid crying themselves to sleep every night. Pets are no less dear to us adults.

When we moved into our house 2 years ago, our cat did not adjust well at all. She hid on a ledge above the basement stairs for almost a week. She did not eat, nor dump out during that time. I know, that was the cleanest her litter box has ever been....lol. No tootsie rolls all week.

After the first week was over, she decided that she is better off owning the place and has been happy ever after.
