1-877-Cars for Kids....AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

Does anyone else want to swerve of the road and hit the nearest tree when they hear this stupid ad?

It seems like its on every 5 min in the Boston area. I have to change the radio as soon as I hear it or I'll be singing it all f'n day.

Also turns out ot be one of those scams anyway:

Put on a CD, and never use the radio again. The radio is evil, and it plays the same junk over and over again anyhow. CDs = happiness.

One Step better, the $140 8Gb iPod Nano, holds >1200 songs in MP3 format and a battery that lasts for over 24hrs of continuous play. That's a lot of music, and even several different styles of music. You can listen to jazz, blues, rock, classical, whatever. It's like having your own radio with several stations.

If your car doesn't have an iPod jack, there's 50 different adapters that you can get. All you need is a cigarette lighter (some don't even require that, but I'd stay away from those).

Yes, that off-key, nasal voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I change stations every time I hear it (which has become very infrequent, thank god).

YES!! The killer for me was I went form my car to the house and when I put the radio on in my kitchen...there it was again!!! but on WBZ this time!

The kid is annoying but the Johnny Cash rip off is real bad.

I do have an ipod so I think I shoudl use it in the car more often.

Yep I checked into it for a car I need to get rid of and it turns out it's little more than a front to give more money to wealthy New York Jewish kids so they can go to camp or whatever rather than giving money to the truly needy. Completely despicable misrepresentation of the facts.

Perhaps in the future if I'm not in such a crummy financial situation myself I'll just donate the car to a local church group or something. Far less likely such an organization would misrepresent themselves.

I gave my old beater truck to the American Lung Association last year.

Fighting lung cancer? It seemed like a good thing to me.

Little did I know they were the lobby behind getting smoking banned all over the state. Now that they have succeeded in doing that, they are trying to get leaf-burning banned.

Oh, and...Kars for Kids advertises in the Chicago area too.

I donated my old car to Good News Garage
http://www.goodnewsgarage.org/?flash=true
Their goal is to fix up as many of the donated cars as possible for use by families in need... it makes a lot of sense to me to try to keep otherwise viable cars on the road rather than auctioning them for parts and then the charity using the cash.

Strangely enough, I live in the Boston area, listen to the radio all the time, and have never heard this ad before. Guess I'm listening to the wrong stations!

I believe the Good News Garage is run by Click and Clack (the CarTalk guys). I've met them in person - they're exactly like they are on the radio. Very funny and personable.

Too bad they think that Porsche 911s have "heater cores" though. I heard them recommend replacing the heater core for some guy that called up once with an older (air-cooled) 911 complaining of poor heat and just about drove off the road laughing so hard.

Lets see, one guy complains about some freebee that he's having trouble collecting on, and another guy says it's jewish kid's charity (which is on their website) so you say it's a scam organization. Right.........................
