I am surprised though. I'd picked 3 straight winners, thought i had that down pat, and all the prediction sites were calling for a Lambert win. Keeps it exciting, doesn't it?

Odds are it was the Gokey church vote that made the difference. It certainly wasn't the performances in the finale, because Lambert sang circles around Kris in last night's show.

I suppose all that will be analyzed in the days ahead, but i don't really care. Neither do they i think- they are both really great friends.

At any rate, if nothing else, it frees Lambert from having to be stuck with that hideous coronation song as his first single. If i was him, i'd be in serious discussions with KISS, or Queen, or Slash.
Because he sounded great with both KISS and Queen, and the life as a legendary rock and roll lead singer is the one he was born for IMO.

I'm happy for Kris. I think he'll do well and have a nice career, but Lambert is going to be gihugic. Can't wait til i can buy his record.

Great finale. The early AI finales were full of B list has been singers. Now they are pulling Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Cindy Lauper, Kiss and Queen. Amazing. The only way it would have been better would be to have Adam on stage with Velvet Revolver and do a whole G'n'R set.

I figured Adam would win, he seemed to have all the momentum. I will say that him hitting those screaming high notes on almost every song did tend to get old. I wonder if that is part of why he lost...gotta know when to pull it back you know?

I thought his Mad World was better than the first time, I was NOT crazy about the 2nd song, I thought he hit the high notes way too often.

Completely agree that the DioGuardi song is crap, but what AI finale song hasn't been?

Super props to Kara (my only props of the year...can't stand that woman) for the bikini flash, she actually has a bod!

I think the most surprised person on that stage was Kris.

Bogus.

If Lambert was straight he wins. It's hard for teen aged girls to get crazy and vote til their fingers bleed when they know you're unobtainable. Plus being gay is going to cost you heavily in the bible belt. Gays are only 2% of the population, so as rabid as they may have been about him there's no way they could overcome the bible thumping gokey masses.

That being said, it was apparently extremely close. Dial Idol(the only prediction site that was right by the way), had it at less than a 1% margin of victory.

I'm happy for the little fella. Classic underdog david vs goliath/cinderella story. The American dream personified really.

Besides, seeing Lambert with KISS tonight just reinforced my belief that he is poised for "all time greatness."

I mean he could literally join KISS and make them right now, overnight, one of the hottest Rock bands on earth, bring them right back to their heyday and then some.

Queen too, for that matter.

According to AT&T, 38 million votes came in from Arkansas last night. There's the difference.

Kris will benefit more from the win than Adam career-wise. So I'm okay with that. The supposition that the good 'ol US of A can't elect a Gay Idol makes me sad.

No. Even though he was streets ahead in talent.

Don't worry, I'm sure someday gays will be able to break down the barriers and finally be employable in the entertainment industry.

38 million votes with a population of less than 3 million? WTF?

I said that to my sister tonight.

California folks are super laid back, no way they'd match the rednecks interest level or commitment.

LOL...

Jesus.

All that, and it was still a razor thin margin of victory for the little guy.

If you take Arkansas out of the mix, in the rest of the US Lambert had a margin of about 49 million to 13 million...(I wonder how many votes came in from Ca.)

At any rate, it looks like IN Arkansas, Kris will be huge. Everywhere else- not so much.
