Porsche 914 Turns 40 - Nice Picture Gallery

The 914 turns 40 years old this week - not sure how they actually determine the birthday - and Porsche is apparently celebrating the big day.

See here for details and a cool photo gallery:

So does this pic say, men drive 911s, women and children drive 914s? Just a thought...hehe

I think my neighbor may have just bought a 914. It is covered by a tarp in their driveway,I'll have to check it out someday.

Another piece of trivia - did you know that the first F1 safety car was a 914?

I have always loved 914s, but I would not say they are the best looking Porsches ever made -- that is going a bit too far.

I almost bought one -- a '72, I think -- when I was in college, & a good friend of mine had one in college. I have driven several (although it was many years ago) & they are fun to drive. The 914 is a great example of a car without much power that is still great fun.

In particular I like the 916. I have always thought a 916 clone would make a great street/track/vintage race car.

I like the 914-6 GT too. This car is fantastic. I love Porsches in orange.

Here are a few other nice 914s. They sure look good in Irish green.

This next 914-6 is very, very cool. Clean. Uncluttered without the later big bumpers. Perfect. I want it...badly!

How about the Peter Gregg 914. I believe it won the 1st IMSA championship. Is that right? (I am sure someone here will know.)

Okay, so this next one is a bit much. Check out those rear tires! How about that rear spoiler!? It probably has a small-block Chevy or something similar in it. I saw it in the parking lot at Rennsport III.

This next one is pulling double-duty holding down the tent. I hope they remembered that before they drove away!
