Unhappy BMW X6 in person.

I saw one of these parked on the street tonight. I apologize, I've not heard of it until now. But it was absolutely the UGLIEST thing I think I have ever seen. And it was HUGE. Like an AZTEC with phasers set to "EVEN MORE GAY."

Anyone? Sorry, maybe you have one.

192 inches long, 4894 lbs, on 19" wheels.

And with its 550hp twin turbo V8 it is the fastest BMW around the ring

I agree. I see them from time to time, and each time I give it a hearty, head-cocked-sideways WTF?

It is one very confused mofo.

Well then at least it moves fast enough we won't have to look at it.

Can it really be the fastest BMW around the ring, with (only!) a 9:1 weight/hp?

Only thing I've heard is that they are quite the driver...

But then, my close personal friend/BMW-NA Exec (he and his wife get a new BMW every 8K miles) - they both chose the X3. What do I know!

I've never owned a Bimmer, but I hear they're drivers' cars. Last one I drove, tho, was a 2002 ti. Again - not the most knowledgeable.

OT - for those in So Cal - how ma M6/6 series do you see every day? I thought they were a ltd edition????

I believe that's the automotive equivalent of "but she has a great personality!"

The thing weighs 5000 lbs!

For many people, no vehicle that weighs 5000 lbs can ever be fun to drive.

Made a mistake: not the fastest BMW, just faster than the E46 M3. The info is supposed to be at this link (http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/04/09/new-york-auto-show-bmw-x6-m-ultimate-photo-gallery/#comment-116822) however it will not load for me right now.

I am rejecting the SAV/crossover idea. Next vehicle will be a Station Wagon.

An SUV with 4 doors that has the roofline of a coupe. Answer to a question nobody asked?

aap1966, I don't think that monstrosity is getting much love on Pelican either.

I liked the AMC SX4 (I like small cars/trucks)..................and upon finding a picture I see someone else made the same connection.

The concept of this vehicle might be better understood in a state with giant potholes and true four seasons of weather. People often have a truck and a car in a family, looks like an attempt at one size fits all.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

The article I grabbed that first pic from mentioned that the X6 is larger than the X5 in every direction, and in weight.

That's one mixed up puppy of a Bimmer. Hilarious, really.

It needs sidepipes, running boards, and zebra stripes.

Check Cardomain.com in a couple of months and I'm sure you'll find a couple of 'em "enhanced" enough to be even funnier than it is now.

Why does it have a raised, off-road stance? Even BMW admits it's only for the street with its low profile, sticky tires. Two and a half tons.... No thanks.

I have not had any good luck with the X5, just one issue after another. Although when all is right, damn fun SUV with good power.
