The guy on the left in the overalls is named Haro.

Most of the work he did for the factory was on 917's. Electronics were his specialty but he is just as proficient in the mechanicals as well.

These days he makes a healthy living doing resto/maintenance work on private owned 917's.

His partner was kidnapped a couple of years ago. The ransom? The two 917 motors they had in their possession. Kidnappers were caught and partner was returned unharmed.

Haro's father was the head groundskeeper for Prince Ludwig. When he retired Ludwig gave him a couple of houses and a some acreage to live on.

If you went out to visit Haro it was kinda like visiting a german hillbilly. To this day he still does not wear underwear. Haro is in his late 60's now with a ZZ Top style beard and long hair, he has 5 or 6 kids, youngest is around 10.

Last saw him a couple of years ago at my moms in FL. He was in town for Rennfest ll and stayed at my moms.

I have known Haro my entire life. He is one of the reasons I am so into cars. My mother has a brother who I barely know. Haro was always our surrogate uncle.

Oh yeah, he prefers Benz's.
