IMO the ballistic protection is lacking. It could cover far more of the body than it does.

They've been working on all this stuff for a long time now. Started with the Landwarrior program, then i think it was called warrior 21 or something like that for a while.

This stuff will never be standard issue though. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money.

PS: Hope that bastard has AC.

It's like another episode from "When Science Fiction Becomes Reality." He looks like a cross between a Storm Trooper and a Starship Trooper.

I agree with m21sniper -- the kind of effort and cost involved in custom fitting boots and outfitting everyone with gear like that would most certainly be prohibitive.

Yeah, just like downhill ski equipment.

There's a reason our guys don't all have built in FLIR's, HUDs and articulated body armor already you know. They could- all the tech exists and would be quite doable.

But it's just plain too expensive. Not even specops have this stuff because it would cost so much.

Get Hasbro to make them. There's some pretty cool kids toys out there...

Does anyone remember the details of the starship troopers book (not the idiotic movie). I vaguely recall each soldier wore personal armour with rocket assist, which could cover miles in a single "bounce", more like man-shaped aerial tanks than anything else, and weapons included tactical nuclear warheads that they lobbed around as casually as discarding a cigarette. I really liked that book, when I was a kid.

The last version of it was in all black.

I'm glad they at least went away from the jack booted thug look.
