Anyone ever gotten a warning in VA?

I'm just curious, because I have NEVER been let off with a warning.. I've gotten pulled several times over the past few years, and they're basically out for blood. I have always gotten ticketed for everything they possibly could find on me... expired registration (by 4 days), cracked window, taillight out, going 80, etc..

I don't think VA Staties do warnings. I've gotten off many, many times by Fairfax Co. and Alexandria City cops, never even a written warning, just verbal. The two times Fairfax wrote me, I beat them in court.

I have had a few breaks. Once when a state trooper pulled me over and yelled "SLOW down Got it? (I ride a BMW too) now get out of here". I was happy about that one. I did also get a break blowing down 28 south bound at 74 or so in a 50 and got just 10 over. The lady cop cut me a major break. Normally, my life doesn't work this way. So I am was happy with this.

Oh man, 28 can be a racetrack sometimes. My radar detector saved me there many times. I've hit triple digits there a few times.

Noted, the ticket for unsafe speed is in the mail.

My wife was very lucky ten years ago near Manassas.
She got pulled over St Patrick's day around midnight for speed in excess of 90 after slowing down.

After getting chewed out she was given a warning that he was very very close to having her a** hauled to jail. Patrol officer was required to write a ticket it was only $30 for "dis-obeying" a highway sign.

She was very lucky, I was already making plans to pick her up from jail on the way back home the following week

You were going to let your wife sit in jail for a week?

You really need a radar detector in VA. They work better in VA than anywhere else too. Since few people use them, the cops use older equipment and never use instant-on. Even getting caught with one is cheaper than the cheapest speeding ticket. Mine paid for themselves many, many times. I remember getting a chirp, slowing down and then watching someone get angry and fly right by me, only to be the one they pulled over instead of me.

I've had several verbal warnings but never a written one.

If I was driving home from Newport News to Georgia I'd have to take the 58 across to I-95. That road is a cash cow for the local fuzz. That's the particular stretch of road that I liked to stick to the artificially low speed limit and leave the radar detector unplugged.
In fact in the last 2-1/2 months I spent in Virginia I never used my radar detector because they're illegal to use.

Otherwise I'd like to be able to agree with you - if you know what I mean

No warnings in the Commonwealth! I always stay 5 miles over when traveling up 95, at least from the line until you get to Petersburg.

I think I'm going to stop unplugging my radar detector when i hit VA... the speed limit is just too low, I always drift over just because i pay "too much attention to the road"

I'll throw it under the seat if i get pulled over.. see if they notice :P

That section of 58 used to be called the suicide strip. Since they made it four lanes it is a bit better, but still a lot of fatalities.
