Air Force One buzzes the tower, er, or NYC
So Air Force One does a NYC flyover for a photo op. Unfortunately no one felt it was important to notify the people of NYC.

That was an absolutely stupid an insensitive move.
To see a passenger plane being followed by a fighter over the Statue of Liberty and in so close a proximity to Ground Zero without any prior notification to the public is downright terrifying. Someone should be crucified for this.

Extremely insensitive move. How could anyone not think of the panic it might cause to have low flying aircraft over NYC, with no announcement or forwarning. Dumb.

Pretty dumb.
I personally had issues for a couple of years after 9/11 simply watching commercial planes in their regular pattern.

My question is for what end...what was Air Force One being used for?
A photo op for exactly what? Clearly the camera person is in the jet...I'd really like to know from White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, when he stops mumbling, and the Director of the White House Military Office, Louis Caldera, who approved this million dollar shoot, why.

I saw some video shot from the area of the Statue of Liberty. People were running away like crazy. I guess they wanted a pic of AF1 in front of the Statue of Liberty before it's no longer there.
If they could'nt just photoshop the shot, I guess they'll photoshop OUT the frightened, scattering masses?

Wasn't Air Force One. Was the backup plane.
NYPD was notified over a week ago and chose not to tell the Mayor or the public. Let's get the facts straight -- if you can stand it.

If they had announced the flyover, someone would have shot at it. You think there's no RPGs hiding in Metropolitain NYC somewhere, and some guy crazy enough to try it?

With the cost associated with this...
Why not have Dreamworks handle the whole thing? That way no heavy jets flying over the Trade Centers footprints.. A bit of computer graphics magic and who would be wiser.
