Shrinkage! (with pics)

When my son first saw me wearing Crocs he said I was pegging the dork-o-meter. Sure they're ugly but they are the best work shoes I've ever had. Perfect for the operating room. No lower back pain after hours of surgery. I don't wear them when I'm not working.

Anyway... Yesterday I left my Crocs in the car all day. Sunny day, about 85 degrees. This morning I went to my car to get my shoes. They SHRUNK! About 3 sizes. Had to throw them out.

The shoes in the picture are the same size.

No worries, though. I have more.

Must have been in direct sunlight.. Whatever compound makes them so comfortable must be liable to shrink.

Glad they're comfy, because they're darn ugly.

Wanna get rich?

1) Put Crocs on
2) Fall asleep in car for a few hours
3) Watch toes break
4)...
5) Profit!

How in the hell can a company make shoes that shrink that much from some heat??

I recently broke down and bought a pair of those "Keen" sandals. My hippie friends have been wearing them a couple of years now. They're rapidly replacing Birkenstocks as the sandal of choice for us hippies. Anyhoo........they're EXTREMELY comfortable.

I've had Crocs shrink too. After leaving in very hot sun for a few days. No matter, they are cheap.

Surgeons are the only acceptable demographic for Crocs. I saw a guy that had his cell phone in a Croc cell phone holder. Tool.

They are EXTREMELY stupid looking. I wouldn't wear them outside of work.

What about those white surgical boots for standing in an inch of blood? (Sorry, I have a few friends who are orthopaedic surgeons, the rough carpenters of the medical world)

I've had a couple pairs of Keen shoes and a pair of their sandals for a couple years now. Hold up to abuse very well and I just washed the funk out of the sandals last weekend. A little clothes detergent and water and they're like new! Pricey but worth it IMHO.

The beauty of Crocs is that they are extremely lightweight and keep your feet cool. I wear below-knee shoe covers over the Crocs in the OR.

I've been wearing Birks for 20 years because I need the arch support those things have. They've been the best shoes/sandals I've owned. Problem with them though is they make my feet smell or maybe it's the other way around. Regardless, I'm ready to move on. Hopefully, Crocs have the same support. Costco carries them now. I think I'll get the viper green color.

When I see those I don't think "hippy". I think "fishing guide". Very cool shoes.

I need to replace my sandals. I will not go the croc route, but those Keen look, well, keen.
