I hate Vista
I have a new HP laptop computer that came preloaded with Norton Internet Security. I have tried to uninstall it but it doesn't show in the program list and I am unable to locate it. I want to install another brand. Help
Thanks |

Personally I really like Vista the OS. However the standard images provided by vendors are full of junk.
Here is a link to uninstall any Norton product. I don't think you need to register. If you can't access the download link, just PM me and I can send you the 3Mb program. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20090205111844EN&ln=en_US

I love Vista, much more than XP and I thought XP was pretty good. So far every iteration of Windows has been better than the last (except ME).

I have one work PC on XP and one on Vista, and I'm fine w/ the Vista - not noticed much difference in my day to day use, really. I just set everything to "Classic" view.
However, I also have Office 2003 on one PC and Office 2007 on the other, and I really dislike the latter. It's not that its bad, but that its different, and the changes to menus, ribbons, etc seem pointless - someone thought they looked prettier, but for a user who needs to do a lot very fast and doesn't care about pretty, the changes are just aggravating. Plus the Excel 2007 default ribbons take up a ton of screen real estate.

I HATE Vista.
As a highly technical person who derives their living from IT related stuff I can tell you that this bloatware is crap. I am running the following at home now: Ubuntu. (Awesome) Mac OSX (Very Good) Windows7 (far superior to Vista) If it wasnt for games there would be no Microsoft here. I have been a long time MS disciple, but the competition has elevated its game. MS has not. Windows7 is a proper version of Vista, but not new. Vista takes forever to enumerate large directories, has huge resource consumption and is overall annoying. Windows7 is MUCH better. For those who aren't fans of OSX, let me tell you that it has been rock solid. It has NEVER crashed and our MacMini has an uptime of 5 9's. It would be 100% but we lost power due to a hurricane last year.

Go get the Windows 7 RC1 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx
You have 1 year to use it before you will need to upgrade to the real Windows 7. It's much better than Vista, even in release candidate stage. It's not buggy; RC's from Microsoft are pretty much ready-to-go.
