System Security 2009 removal help please

The home computer has the freaking virus and it won't let me do anything to find the files to delete it. "regedit" won't work it just blips the computer and goes back to the desktop.

DAVE!!!! Help.

I tried Malware...it wouldn't execute.

...I'm doing it in Safe Mode now...and it's scanning. Hopefully this works.

Thanks, B-man.

make sure that your java is up to date. thats often the overlooked 'update' that lets crap in even through otherwise 'safer' browsers like firefox.

Rename malware to another name, like "blah" and it should open and run. The virus is possibly preventing it from opening.

Hi Souk, how's it going? I'm still on the road, but should be home in about 20 minutes. Safe mode and malwarebytes is what I would have suggested as well.

I got it guys. Safe mode was the ticket to get Malware to execute. It found and deleted 21 files! The kids use mom's computer for stuff instead of the one we got them for their use with all the protections on it...something like this was bound to happen.

So it looks clean now. Thanks for the tips guys...thanks for checking in Dave. Have a good night. You guys (PPOT) are the best source for anything!

Run Malwarebytes again when in Windows in normal mode. You might also want to consider running a full virus scan and use another spyware program such as Spybot Search and Destroy or Lavasoft's Ad-Aware.

It seems that no single program finds everything. Spybot and Ad-Aware might find a few more things.

You can have the most protected computer in the world, but let a kid sit at it and it will soon become infected.
