Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Breaks All-Time Auction Record
Sorry if this is a re-post, but as predicted a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR broke the all-time auction record at today's Ferrari Leggenda auction.
Hard to believe in this economy that someone would pay so much for a car...incredible. http://www.sportscardigest.com/archives/5690 |

I assume Speed Racer's Mach 5 was modeled after the 250 TR?

I saw a red one parked on the street in Dallas. Incredible looking car. If I couple hundred million in the bank, why not?

Not a record back in 1990 a 250 GTO went for 14.75M.

Stunning car. Considering the current market, it might be a better investment than stocks. At least you can have a little fun with it, stock market......not so much.

If you're selling a $12M car, you can afford to hire a decent photographer.

Another example of a market gone to hell at the hands of the collectors/speculators. If they keep driving prices up like this, I'll never find that "driver" I've been looking for.

Yes and no...that GTO was a reported private sale, whereas this is the "most expensive motor car ever to be sold at auction," i.e. public sale.
Big, big difference. |
