Gonna do it!
Yep, gonna buy a Bullitt Mustang. The remaining question...buy a very low miles, less than 2,000, used one? OR...pay $4-5 K more for a new one with all the warranty remaining.
Seems to be a lot of low miles cars out there...people buying into the "collectable" scam, now realizing (DUH!) that cars are not investments. It's not just the early 911 fold that falls for tulip mania. Just a driver with pretty good performance. Truth be known, faster than my old 911S with better gas mileage. Only took Ford 37 years to catch up... So, which way would you go? New or used? |
A friend of mine has one of these and he likes it a lot. I'm assuming a used one would still have some warranty left so likely worth it to save the money.
|
My opinion is to go used. Let someone else take the "new" car depreciation hit.

"Previously owned" should work fine. Enjoy.
Less than 2000 miles? A demonstrator? Be sure to pick up a coupla long sleeve black turtlenecks... :) |

My brother has one and loves it. They live about three hours away, and that it the car they always drive to visit.

Hadn't heard of this model, I gotta say it looks awesome without the trim, real stealthy.

Oh, I know ... but I can't imagine that you would hang out with one w/o a (superior) hatchback.

I would save even more and get a basic V8 - then build it up to my liking. There is so much stuff out there for these cars, you could have a blast for less money or have a better car for the same money.
Just my two cents. George |
Saw one of these on the freeway today...

Paul,
How about waiting for the Bullitt edition of this newest generation? Had some quality seat time in the '10 my neighbor brought home last week (Ford exec) and it was a hoot. Strange, because after driving it I thought about asking you about your thoughts on the new one (couldn't recall if you had considered it previousely). Interior fit and finish and overall detailing much improved over the '09 generation in my opinion.... He said the Bullitt will be coming shortly..... |
What year is it, probably not the 2001 model.

Good example of WHY I want the understated Bullitt model...with the "spoiler delete" option. Beygon, I'm going either 2008 or 2009 Sarc...any chance of a sneak pic of the '10 models??? |

Have driven several of them and they are fun... not like a 911 but better than a VW Beetle! |

Understated all the way... nice ride... http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...angbullitt.jpg |

But for the Bullitt, I imagine it wouldn't derive much from the current Bullitt formula; aesthetically restrained, slight bump in power, some interior touches. Not a Bullitt, but here's a couple good reports on the new '10 GT in which it will be based on: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/ http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/18/review-2010-ford-mustang-gt/ Normally, I would say buy used but since you appear to be pretty monogamous with your car(s) choices, I would be more concerned about getting the better package vs. any loss of value. A front end pic of the new GT to get an idea of the new surfacing: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....nggtabg_08.jpg |
We are still shopping for a new car for my wife but I look at used at the dealers and what I have seen is the REALLY good extended warranties on low mileage used cars. Better than new.
Otherwise as mentioned above, if you keep cars forever you might want new. |
