They STILL make the bullit?
|
Paul, you probably won't buy another car in your lifetime and you can afford practically anything you want. Why not buy exactly what you want new? You know you're gonna wax the engine decals, so why take on something that someone else drove and owned differently than the way you plan to?

Looking at the 2010 model pics, I think I prefer the 2008-09 exterior lines. But interior improvements I wouldn't mind. I'll probably talk with the dealer again after the weekend. |
new car smell - there is no substitute
Did you nix the Challenger? I have seen a few in person and it looks badass in orange. Then again so does that 'stang above. |
Same dealership has a black Challenger on their lot...Just too damned big for my taste, I guess. I keep surfing back & forth between the '09 front end pic earlier here and the '10...trying to eliminate the fogs, the grill emblem, just looking at the lines. I really think I prefer the clean look of the '09...without the flares, the bigger grille opening, and the bulge in the hood. Purely a taste thing, tho...

Used, unless you can find a smokin' deal on new. Let somebody else take a hit on the new car.
Good call on the Bullitt, it's my favorite Mustang package. Subtle and understated. Go with green to keep it authentic.;) |

Yep...paying cash. I learned the key to financial happiness years ago. NEVER pay interest...have others pay interest to you. Kind of funny here...salesman was asking us income, own your home, the usual credit questions...Cindy asked,,,,"Why do you need to know this?" The his lightbulb came on..."You're going to pay cash???"
I said yes, but we really didn't want him to know that until we had his lowest price, because we knew dealerships made more when the buyer financed the car. I really think this Bullitt is a good "compromise" car for Cindy & I. Not so rare..or expensive that we're paranoid when driving. Easily replaced should the worst happen. Not the fastest thing out there, but adequate power for the driving I like to do. Plus, plenty of room in the trunk for a weekend's worth of luggage and a couple of pool cue cases. ;) |
Treat yourself. Get a new one. I really like those cars. Recent articles are saying the new mustangs handle pretty well with the upgraded suspension. (track pack)

color me crazy, but that no longer looks like a 'stang from the front. It de-emphasizes the roundness of the headlights with the more angles grill trim.
It looks fine, but just less like a '65. |
wow...great photo-shop work, Sarc...I'm impressed. But yes, I think I prefer the '09 look...no hood bulge, and the turn signals mounted lower, away from the single headlights.
Purely a taste thing...the '10 looks good also...just that the '09 turns my crank a bit more. |

Thanks for the SF pics, gee, wonder why Ford did those? ;)
Anyway, just back from the dealership, gave them a refundable deposit check... Car should be here early next week... |
Always buy used unless you like just flushing money down the toilet.

wasn't there one with an independent rear a few years ago?

Yeah, friend Ben had the Cobra version. Problem is, it was the previous body style, had nowhere near enough leg room for my 6'3". He had it only a few weeks, traded it in on a larger car, saying he really didn't realize how small the interior was...and he's only 5'10"... Frankly, driving one...I'm not so sure the independent rear is really needed...it handles pretty well without one. No plans to track this car...it'll be "just a driver", without the hassles I had with 911S ownership. That is, the paranoia of driving the irreplaceable, the pressures from folks who wanted it in their garage, the 200 mile round trips to get the work I didn't do done, and more..."stuff" I don't want to get into anymore. |
