My fake Id got Snagged!

I'm 110% pissed off. I went out to the bars tonight for a friend of mines 21st birthday only to have my ID snagged by the bouncer. I need your oppinion do I go back tomorrow morning and try to get it? I have no other proof of who I am (supposta) be. Do I have a shot or a shot at being arrested?

Ya forget about it and get another one. The only way to get it back, is to have the police show up to the bar and verify it...

BTW, how can you be pissed? You pay to play...

A novel concept...wait until you're 21?

That would be the right thing to do.

Drop it man, your not getting it back. Not sure how you got it, but either pony up the cash or go through the motions and get another one.

Dunno, I never had a fake ID, because it never seemed worth it. I went to Michigan State, and there was plenty for the under 21 set to do.

you're lucky, walk away.

In these post-911 days you could be arrested. My nephew's girlfriend had to go to court, caught only a few days before her 21st birthday.

The problem that I have here is that you're actually pissed off that you got caught doing something that you KNOW you're not supposed to do. You're pissed that your fake ID got snagged? Dude, when you do things that are illegal, you have to be ready to accept the consequences. Would you be pissed at a cop that pulled you over for doing 100mph in a 25mph zone? You did something stupid, you got caught, move on.

My ex-girlfriend got arrested and slapped with community service for using a fake ID while she was in college. She chalked it up to "well, everyone does it, but it's illegal, I got caught, now I have to face the consequences."

I would be kind of embarrassed to have started a thread like this.

Yup, you gotta pay to play. But it takes a truly oblivious dumbass to consider going back to the bar to demand the ID. You're just lucky that they didn't call the cops, count your blessings and move on with life. If that's a big deal to you, get another. Personally, I had plenty of pre-21 fun without a fake.

That's what I was thinking, but he's obviously young, and with youth goes lack of wisdom. (trying to put it nicely)

The bouncer did you a favor. And I'd not pursue it. What is funny is that you want US to validate your CRIME??? Don't get another fake one, wait till you are grown up enough to understand illegal. Geesh

Back in the day of paper drivers licenses - my buddy got in lots of trouble for his altered license. The bad part was - he was by then past 18 and could drink legally.

Walk away.

In Illinois, being caught with a fake ID is now a felony (this happened when I was in college).

Having a fake ID stopped almost overnight, but having someone else's real ID wasn't having a fake ID.

How close to 21 are you? Around here, the bars will let you in at 18 with a cover charge and at 21 without a cover charge. You got a hand-stamp if you were under 21 and a wrist band if you were over 21. We'd simply wipe off the hand stamp, and have a friend give you his wrist band, then he'd go outside to "take a phone call" and come back in with a new wrist band.

Anyway, when I got within three months of my 21st birthday the bars started letting me in without a cover and gave me a wrist band...

You weren't seriously going to return to the bar to ask for it back, were you?

How did he snag it... did he ask you what year you were born?

Yeah, go back over there at lunch time or just as happy hour begins... they'll give it back.

BTW, I have 'heard' from more than 1 person under 21 is they just use their real ID. Many bouncers can't or don't bother to do the math.

I lost mine in college when I dropped it down a steam grate in the sidewalk. It was only ever turned down once by a bouncer. One of my friends had a near professional photo studio and graphics shop in his dorm room for making these. He had a friend at NJ DMV who got him a box of those laminated covers with the holograms on them. This was the first generation of hologrammed licenses in NJ. Those were the days.

I don't know how tough it is these days for folks to get into college bars. Surely, you can find a real license somewhere.
