I had a short stint as a valet never damaged anything,
I don't even let the guys at the tire shop touch the car, I take the wheels in. I always think Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Ferrari Scene in the parking garage.

I had a rental car damaged by the Valet at the SLS in Bev Hills and they couldn't have been nicer about it. Took care of everything...
