Does the crying even sound normal at the end? Whether or not it leaves a 'scar' emotionally isn't the issue. Whether the boy will remember it later is not the issue. The issue is that it's torturous and barbaric when performed at birth.

Milliseconds after glancing at the title of the thread, I thought to myself:

"Another promising thread for the PPOT...."

It would blow my mind if the statistic was down to near 50% in the US. I mean... I'm not out checking out a lot of dude's schlongs or anything but I guess I always assumed that most every guy is cut? I dunno. It still blows my mind even more that it was ever performed at all on as many males in my time period for seeming no reason. I've never understood it really.

IMO, absolutely not. You are doing the right thing.

Besides religious reasons, there are medical and hygene reasons for circumcision.

I was there when my son was circumcised. That crap about the baby passing out is pure hogwash.

I was there as well when my son was trimmed and he barely knew it happened.

I've made up my mind...

Where can I go to get this done? :D

Dude, dial back the alarmist slant. I'd bet there are lots of videos out there of painful procedures.

The point you seem to be missing is that it is NOT recommended to do this without local anesthesia. Dr. Moses told you his own self that in his 15 years of experience he has NEVER seen it done without a local.

Chicks dig circ'd dudes. Think about the boy's future with the ladies.

Seriously.

This is coming from a quality source here...

Why even ask us yahoos!? it's something that should be decided privately between you and your wife and be the end of it.

Your initial statement of having him 'like you' will go along way when he starts asking about 'stuff' 7-8 years from now.

jyl 06-11-2009 10:46 AM

My son's circumcision was also uneventful.

I thought it would make good fodder, which it has. I like hearing what you guys have to say about a lot of things. Next question: Should I get a paternity test?:D

I am, by two boys are not, they are 14 and 21 now. No hygiene issues at all and I don't remember the last time we compared the two looks, the shocking photo my wife came across on our computer recently shows my boys girlfriend REALLY does not mind the turtle neck look!!!! Leave it be the whole process serves no purpose.

For 2007 or so:

"Nationwide, about 56 percent of newborn boys -- 1.2 million infants -- were circumcised. U.S. circumcision peaked at 65 percent in 1980, but has remained fairly stable in the mid 50s percent for the past 10 years."

my folks saved my trimmin and i have it in a jar of formaldahyde to this day. looks like a lil pig rhine snack floating around in there. your son, like i had could have at least one day of 3rd grade show & tell taken care of....

trim the boy, like elaine of seinfeld said, and i am taking her word for it the skinned units "have no personality".

plus, my buddy who was not took a ton of shat over it from us over the years. he even stated one time "that his remained longer because it was not cut on". i fired back "just because you shirt sleeve hangs over you hand dont make your arm any longer".

This reminds me of one of the text messages from last weeks thread on www.textsfromlastnight.com

I believe it went like this (from a girl hopefully):

If last night was website it would be baddecisions.org or uncircumcisedspanishweiner.com

Sorry but you are dead wrong. To anethisize (OK my spelling sucks) a baby is a dangerous thing and is only done in an emergency. Maybe a local shot but I doubt that as well. I saw a show on TV about pain and how the body deals with it, the " old wives tale " is that babies don't feel pain - wrong again and to prove it they tape recorded a baby crying cause it was hungry, then they played the recording they made when that same baby lost his fore skin , the memery of that still gives me the creeps, if any one heard that sreaming from the apt. next door you would break down walls and hurt the person that was inflicting that level of pain to a new born. It was shocking to hear and expecting parents should listen to that recording before making a call on a worthless operation, after hearing that no parent would ever knowinly submit their child to that level of pain. If this operation is done for a religious reason then maybe your taking your religon a bit to seriously. IMO

Yes the MD is dead wrong.:rolleyes:
