Now THAT is hilarious. Even better if you could get a few of the letters crooked too. And yellow.

A friend's kid called his band the "Toilet Fish".
We threatened to use "Free Beer" as a name when in college. We figured it would work great on Wednesdays at the Hungry Hunter along with their signs that read "Wednesday night is ladies night" and "All you can eat for $5.99".

Couple of bands that no one's ever heard of:
Fat Chick from Wilson Phillips Amish Rake Fight In the late '80's, I did see a band at The Palomino Club in North Hollywood called Sex and Free Beer. After reading this thread, I'm thinking the name might not have been as original as I once thought.

if you think your band name is original, just google it. naming the band was a big pain. the singer thought we had to name NOW, even though we were not going to play out anytime soon. nothing ever nocked me over for a name.
their/his first choice was FOF- four old farts. it does not roll off the tongue very well. one i came up with was stray dog, we went with the strays- thestrays.info next time i will name the band before i put one together. i still like skid mark an dead til friday BrI iSh T EtH sorry, i dont get it. british teeth?

I always thought it would be funny to start a band with normal, suburbanite white american guys and call the band simply: "Jews". Not "The Jews" ... just "Jews". That way when you get up on stage you can yell out "How's Everyone TONIGHT? We're JEWS! Are you ready to rock?" Just to confuse the hell out of people.
Had a cousin play in a band in STL called Tape Deck Sonata. Always thought that was a cool name.

That's all fine and good until the next band comes on stage and introduces themselves as "4 more to go".

I used to play in a band called "**** On Toast".
We had to play under a different name on a few occasions. I remember we played under the name "Lipstick Skip" a couple of times. Try to say that quick ten times in a row.

Dumpster Juice (saw them in the early 90's at a bowling alley punk show, was suprised to see they actually had something of a webpage!)
Honcho Overload (some of the more unsavory members here might get that one...) Dick Justice (named after the dean at the university where we all were, he was the guy you talked to when you were going to get kicked out of school...yes, his name actually was Dick Justice).

I think Rush pulled a good one out of the hat. Nice and simple with good innuendo. Of course, on that level, nothing beats The Beatles. I mean, The Turtles? Where does that go?
