Never good when you wake up behind the wheel, not entirely sure how you got there. My saving grace, after a number of close calls, has been pistachios. Just like sunflower seeds, the activity keeps me occupied and awake. Just so I'm engaged in doing something, I can drive all night.

I'm used to driving stuff like a 69 land cruiser or a 86 lifted cj7 so highway driving was an experience that always kept me awake. before that i drove cars pre 1989 so i always stayed awake cause they all had front end problems or had a loud exhaust or whatnot so when i bought my 97 Subaru legacy wagon it was so quiet and smooth that it put me right to sleep.
