same same.

both just need a little attention and understanding while thrusting their lifestyle choices in our faces. look at me!
WHat about people who wear T-shirts with a picture of some piece of hardware?

Yes, once again, your hypocrisy is shouting.

Well, anyway; I'm no gun nut. Never bought one, tho' I have shot a few.

As I see it; forming a picnic like this, is an attempt to re-normalize the image of carrying hardware, visibly. ....as cops do. ....Supposedly, the constitution actually speaks to this.

Whereas gay-pride parades are a contest of who can be more outrageously (in your face) gay.

Apparently, however, just as freaky outrageously gay scare people so do holstered guns.

btw Whose problem is that? Apparently, in this society, only the right laid out in the constitution is shoved back to be solely the problem of the source.

Got it, when you said:

I thought you meant "a lot of places around here". I could totally see the Easternmost suburb of L.A. looking down upon open carry, even legally. I don't think I ever saw a gun while in the Valley, but you'd see them hourly while in Tucson.

I can see this get together in two lights.

Yes, if it's totally legal to open carry, and they want to get together as hobbyist, then go for it, it's no different than getting a bunch of 911s together somewhere.

If they're doing it to wave their collective penii at the cops and their sheeple neighbors, then I see nothing good coming of it. I've known gun owners who would think that it was a good idea to sit around the park together, twirling their 6 shooters around their finger and giving dirty looks to the people who "don't get it".

I don't know what these MI people are like, I guess we'll see.

I was referring to Virginia in my first one.

I see biker OC'ing on the hwy. here a lot. There's a gas station by my house where everyone fills up their boats and quads before heading to the lake or desert. I see people OC'ing there just about every time I go to that gas station. I see it in the grocery store a few times a month. I don't know that I've ever seen it in Tucson, but I don't spend much time there.

Funny, isn't it, that there seems to be some correlation between the support for freaky outrageously gay and the fear of (or disdain for) normal citizens arming themselves.

what's the word for fear of guns? gunnaphobia?

What is strange to me is that some guy OC'ing there at a gas station might get some concerned looks for the power of the gun. At the same time, those "concerned people" don't think about 'hey, that guy has a gas dispensing nozzle in his hand ...he could squirt that all over and scorch this place to the ground with a flick of a Bic.'

To clarify my comment about the OC picnic and a gathering of nudists. I have both a gun and a penis but no real desire to reveal either to the general public.

Oh yeah, Higgy had a thread on that. Point is, everyone knows "homophobia" Yet, we have a bigger problem with Hoplophobia. -It really needs a catchier name. There is no easy connection for people, and the idea gets lost.

So, if I show up at the park with this tiny gun in a holster....

Or would it be better to show up like this?

Can you please clarify Glenn? I'm not seeing the connection.

About 50 people showed up. Everyone sitting around eating burgers and hotdogs. A few kids. I'd say 80% were OC'ing. Many if not most were middle aged fat guys. There were a few younger guys who seemed to be in pretty good shape. A small park with picnic tables, BBG grills...

One of the 2nd Amendment community organizers began speaking near the table which was set up with some 2nd Amendment literature, tee shirts, etc. on it. So, to hear better, the picnickers gathered around.

Next thing you knew all of a sudden the younger guys who evidently positioned themselves on the periphery drew their weapons and were shouting "Get on the ground! Get on the ground, NOW!" Nobody knew who they were yelling at until we discovered it was us! I presume everybody hit the ground, like quick, because I SURE DID.

Then the regular cops showed up. Maybe 20 of them. Full body armor black rifles drawn. Two by two they cuffed everybody with those plastic zip-tie things. Anybody with a weapon was cuffed first.

OK, OK. I lied. The first two paragraphs are true. The second two are next year, probably.

I'd write more but I can't afford any more paragraphs.

In Wisconsin open carry is legal. 2 times concealed carry almost passed until the Governor vetoed it. His justification was if are going to carry, just carry open. The Attorney General did a press release reiterating the law. I think Milwaukee could benefit from a picnic since the Milwaukee police chief seems against people open carrying.
