Disney monorail crash......1 dead
Monorail crashed last night at disney at 2am, one driver dead.....no guests injured.......more to come

If you've been there it happened at the transportation center, the wifey and I were at hollywood studios last night, such a tragedy, the monorail system has been running since the early 70's with no real incedents since then.....

We're there now, security has every monorail station locked down.....
The monorail which was in the station which was ran into is still there, the one which hit it is gone a surely in the maint dept........I have a few distant pics from the ferry....but nothing to really see.....

The monorail system is pretty automated......there's all types of safeguards and speed limiters, so I'm really surprised something like this happened.

Wow, used to ride it to work every day when I worked there (early 90s). Terrible to hear - that system is a model of safety and efficiency most times. I wonder what the real story is for this - driver with "gethomeitis"? Mechanical failure?
Very unfortunate.
