i just ordered a Casio Pathfinder watch.
my G-shock is annoying. the G-shock i bought, is the one with actual hands that sweep about. on the lower portion, there is a minuscule digital display that shows other things like stopwatch, date..etc. in my dimly lit tunnel, i cannot see any of the numbers!! part of getting old i guess. and it seems that the hands are always swept in the down position and blocking the friggen digital display. i leave my good watches at home during work and outdoor excursions. my arm is elbow deep in something or another, more times than not. i wanted a Suunto, but couldnt justify the cost, and the dangers of being arm deep in wet concrete.
anyone have a pathfinder watch? hard to work the features? maybe i should have asked before plunking down the money. i opted for the solar watch.. cliff.

Wait. You work/live in a dimly lit tunnel and you bought a solar powered watch?

I have a solar G shock... pretty cool technology for a $50 watch. When fully charged it's good for 6 months. It also sets itself by the atomic clock.

yea, i heard leaving it in a window with sunlight will charge it for days...i think it would be cool to climb a mountian and gather some decent intel on the elevation gain.

I was amazed how well mine kept track of elevation. We went as high at 11,990 feet in Colorado and the watch was usually within 50 to 80 feet of the signs.
