I watched the race on Saturday. (Congrats to Jorg on his FOURTH win!) This is the first ALMS race I've been able to catch this year.

Anyone know the deal with the new "Challenge" class? It looked like they were running 911 Carreras (among other cars) there.

ALMS is allowing the ALMS-C class to run during 5 events this year. Utah was the first race. Lime Rock was the second. The cars that make up the class are the same as the PATRÓN GT3 Challenge.

They are ALL Porsches. Within the class, these cars are allowed:
o Model Year 2009 Porsche 911
o Model Year 2008 Porsche 911 or any 2005˝ - 2007 – Porsche 911 cars with the 2008 up-grade package
All bodywork must remain stock and no alternate parts (except as provided for herein) are permitted. No unauthorized modifications are permitted to the bodywork.

I was there and took this short video on the grid.

A buddy of mine took a picture of my with my 911 after the Paddock walk.

He took some great pictures that you can see here. I was playing around with a Flip Video camera trying to figure out the best way to use it to record stuff at a race track. The good news is that it's compact and discrete, the bad news is that it doesn't have any telephoto. Besides video that I took of on-track activities would be redundant with the SpeedTV coverage.
