Is the end near?

I haven't been able to get to the forums all morning. I thought it was the end of the world and the Mayans' calendar was off.

The end has already passed and we're onto a new beginning. Life, and the internet, is like a dog chasing its own tail.

Wasn't it 2012? But if we make it through that, there's a giant asteroid scheduled to hit in 2036. We're all doomed...no doubt.

You say that as a joke, but that sort of thing isn't unheard of. I used to provide support for Cisco firewalls. My favorite similar tale is this. We had a person call in once, their firewall went down every weekend. We pretty quickly determined that it would go down every Fri right around 5pm and it would come back up every Mon morning. Well, it turned out that the firewall was plugged into a switched outlet and every Fri when the last person would leave the office, they'd turn the lights out which also turned off the firewall. When the first person showed up on Mon mornings, they'd turn the lights on and the firewall would come back to life. Pretty darn funny, I've got to say.
