Fukushima gets worst crisis rating. But how much radiation has been released? - CSMonitor.com

I hear the Japanese government I'd finally admitting it was a "melt through" meaning worse than Chernobyl. The entire area is uninhabitable, and groundwater irradiation may affect Tokyo. Worst case scenario: all of the island becomes uninhabitable.

There was an interview in WSJ Online where an "expert" said that. I don't consider WSJ Online to be a particularly credible source, but there you go.

Groundwater contamination is a b!tch.

Cannot be worse than Chernobyl. Chernobyl actually went super-critical and blew itself apart.

People. 2 actual early nuclear weapons were dropped on cities in Japan. These cities are still habitable.
