Mac os was $29 when I did my hackintosh. Ease of install depends on the specific hardware of the device. Post a thread in OT, there are some pros out there....

i may just do that. i'll need to spec out my hardware first. last time, i couldn't get the video working correctly as i had a very rare video card and no one wanted to spend the time/effort to create drivers. drivers are beyond my ken, so i was stuck.
