Good evening fellas.
Dang Rick, can you swing by my garage :) I spent another day in the garage. Tomorrow I plan to stuff the engine into the place it is supposed to go. I spent lot of time trying to figure out what to do next. I figured I would mount the oil filter on the new engine. Wait there is no way to do that, the gizmo the filter screws into ain't there. Oh wait, it is still on the old engine. The old engine is sitting on a wood crate and the oil filter mount is blocked by a piece of wood. Two hours later I have the part mounted on the new engine. I finally have a flexplate mounted and a harmonic balancer mounted. The engine is on TDC #1 and ready. I have a new intake ready to bolt down. Tons of little things to do yet. |
My dog loves duck jerky
Heh heh heh, I said jerky
Yeah and I said boobie.
I hope things went well for Dave today. He deserves it.

Just had a charcoaled cheese burger and onion rings, and it was good as I contained no thanksgiving feast leftovers.

Rick, (or any of the other guys) one puzzle is the dip stick. The crate engine has a hole on either side for the dip stick. The drivers side is right under the manifold. Ain't no way that will work. I pulled out the dip stick from the old engine and got it cleaned up. It is not a real tight fit in the new engine but mounts up perfect on the passenger side as before. Will silicone seal it up? There is a hole in the engine on the drivers side about the size of a 45 caliber bullet. It is a smooth bore, no threads. How do I plug that for good when it will have to not leak in 0 degree temps or when the engine is HOT at 220 degree for the next 20 years?

When I did my engine swap I put everything on except accessories before dropping it back in.
But it basically was a full size truck with lots of room
That is my plan.
