Good evening guys. Wow 40k posts!

I have read up to page 100 tonight. Now I am waiting to find out what happens to cowgirlvicky. :)

My plan to screw L.A. out of some fix-it ticket fines almost backfired today. I waited until the last minute, so I spent the day at the Chatsworth courthouse, in line. Finally getting up to the counter, I handed my paperwork to the clerk and she asked if I had a "certificate of compliance". Uh, no, I just got the ticket signed off by a deputy in a parking lot. "Well, you need to get a cert.". Okay, how? "Go across the hall to the Sheriff's office and she'll give you one. Just come to the front of the line when you are done". Okay.... Walking... Across the hall... I need a cert. "Where did you get this signed?" In a parking lot. "That's not going to work. You need to bring the car here to get it signed off". Uh, that's not easy to do and this ticket is due tomorrow. "Well, you need to do that.". Okay... F! What am I going to do?? There are deputies at the front entrance, so I asked one about the cert. She told me to go to the office I just came from. I tell her I just got kicked out of there and needed to get the car signed off - again. She says "What???" Let me se the ticket. Asks where I got it signed off. Tell her in a parking lot at Taft HS. She tells me she'll be right back. Comes back and hands me the ticket, signed off again. I tell her thanks and off to the Sheriff's office again.. Lady see's it and says okay. That'll be $17 for the cert. Damn!!! Fine $25, sign-off, $17. Oh well. At least I didn't have to drag the 911 down to the court.

My Fluid Mechanics 1 went fine and Mechanical Engineering Design 1 was alright for the most part. I had those on Monday.
There was one problem where there was a stainless steel collar press fit onto a steel shaft at 26 degrees C that was undergoing cyclical thermal loads from 26 degrees to 426 degrees C. We had to determine how long it would last to failure. Tha involves finding the stresses setup by the press fit at the high and low temperature, combining those into an equivalent, then using some funky formulas and correction factors to determine the number of cycles to failure. I think the interference that was reported as radial was really a diametrical interference since the stresses were too high. My result showed it would break before one cycle. If it was half as much stress it would be in line with the expected 3000 cycles or so. |
What finals do you have?

Thursday night I have my ropes course final. Not worried about it...
Monday I have Marketing. I haven't done the hard calculations, but I think I have to make around a 60 to still make an A in the class, I won't have to study hard for that.... Tuesday is Management, almost the same story. Tuesday night is the Rescue Diver exam. It won't be much either. Then Wednesday is Financial Accounting. Need less than half of the points to make an A in the class. A big portion of the test is a take home problem, won't be hard at all. |
Cool. Sounds like you can keep partying then. ;)
I think I would have a hard time with the ropes course. And I know I would have a hard time with anything involving swimming. |
Ropes isn't hard at all as long as you don't mind heights, and you can figure out knots...
The swimming isn't so bad... The only time we really had to swim was the laps for the swim test. From there on out we got to use our fins, and I've got some big split fins. |
I am going to sign off for tonight now. Going to have dinner and do a bit of studying then head off to bed.
Night everyone. |
Night max.
|
good night, peeps.
