Drive to anywhere interesting Vas?

Flieger 01-13-2012 09:00 PM

He wrote me for 40 in a 35, which may or may not have been the speed limit. The limit was 45 on the Snake just weeks after that.

I had seen him on the way up sitting in a turn, and I was only in second gear. Then I went back down, second gear, egine braking, watching my speed, etc. My Dad and I passed him sitting there in the same spot. He did not move. I got about 4/5 of the way down when I heard a siren and stopped thinking he was responding to an emergency. He stopped and pulled me over.

He claimed he had to go 50-55 mph to "pace" me. ~thinking~Well, yeah dipstick. If you give me a 1 mile head start (we measured it), you are going to have to go fast to catch up even if I am only doing 35-40 mph.

If I had known, I would have sped up and could have lost him easily.

So that is how I got a ticket for going 5 mph under the speed limit and not within sight of a cop.

I would really have liked at least a chase for the money.

Vas, I'll drive it tomorrow, but I won't drive the hell out of it. Cold roads, and I need to bed the new pads and rotors in.

Outback Porsche 01-13-2012 09:09 PM

How'd it all go Sid? I've got the same in the plans for my '44. 4 rotors and caliper referb kits/paint are sitting waiting for me to get the current proj done. Any traps for beginners?

What was the V.C.? Sounds like you may have had the one that's easy to get out of.

vas930 01-13-2012 09:19 PM

Nice job, Jeff.
Just drove down around Flinders.
Scared the hell out of the GF.

It does not matter now. It has been too long since the Guilty verdict for the Trial de Novo.

vas930 01-13-2012 09:25 PM

Beer Time ?

I didn't hit any snags other than the hell cleaning the grime off the calipers, but sandblasting helped that..... The kit itself is straightforward.

I'll post some pics tomorrow....

You bet!

porsche4life 01-13-2012 09:29 PM

I think you owe him legal fees alarick.... You were responsible for half the ticket if he'd lost.... ;)

In other news, that stupid little metal clippie thing that holds the flag mirror in place broke today. The one the set screw clamps down on to fasten the mirror onto the door. I was on the freeway on my way to work when I saw the mirror wallowing a bit. Not like the normal vibration. I thought the glass was loose and gonna fall out, but it turned out to be the whole mirror housing. When I tried to tighten the allen screw at home, the whole mirror housing came off in my hand. Screw's in place, but that clip has sheared in half. Anyone know if anyone sells just that little metal clip? I don't need the whole mirror assembly, which is how it shows up on Pelican.

vas930 01-13-2012 09:31 PM

Cheers ,guys. :)

Noah, hows the smoke on the 930?
