Thanks, Sid.

I love the 930s, Noah.
However, I am not dumb enough to say they are better than a 993tt. I loved driving my dads. The brakes and gearbox in the 993 are on another planet. And they are easy to drive. Most people like that fact. If you get one you will be a lucky man. They have become a collector in Australia. I remember dad buying his new in 97. It was $305k in 97. Last of the hand made porsche. :) |
I'm pretty sure our shop has smoke damage now. I'm not sure what the hell my dad was thinking, but it is stil STRONG in there two days later.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1326525263.jpg We took these poles down at a location tuesday, and noticed that one was PACKED with birds nest.... So instead of leaving it outside to start cutting on it with the plasma cutter, he backs it in the shop and goes to town.... When it starts smoking, he has the bright idea to feed it a little air for a quick burn..... The thought of pulling the trailer into the drive didn't cross his mind... |

Good thing it was he and not you.

vas, so how much are nice 993 turbos going for in AUS? Round here they seem to go for the $50-60K range.
|
Whoops!
|
Damn right. Like I said though I'm not sure why they didn't pull the trailer out....
I told him if he really would have wanted it to burn he would have started feeding pure O2 off the torch bottles... |
You should buy him a "OFC" hat, Sid.

$180k for a good one. $80/ 100k for a nice 930. Aust and US dollar are even. You blokes have it good. We pay double for them new. :) |
|
What's it cost to ship and register a car?
|
You guys do have it good in the cost of living stakes. Everything is expensive here.
|
Its the %100 import tax we pay on new sports cars.
That money then goes into proping up the crap Aust car industry. Like I said ,dad payed 305k in 1997. A new turbo in Aust now is about 370k. Its not like the US, only wealthy people have porsches in Aust. The cost of living in general is higher than the US. But the sport car thing is a one off. |
Time for a movie and some nudie.
Nite all. Have a great day. :) |

There are some funny rules about the age of the vehicle, so that it's not competing against the local market and there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get it to happen. And even if you get import approval, it could all stop at customs for some obscure reason. Now rego can also be a pia. I thinks most states now allow LHD vehicles to be registered, but again there are age requirements in most states. So, you could go through with a purchase, have it held at customs for ever, and if it finally gets released, you may or may not be able to register it. You hear of some people doing the import thing, but most don't want the hassle. |
