I have no idea what type of valves lifters a Honda engine uses but I can't imagine it has solid lifters. Look in your owners manual. See if there is any mention of valve adjustment in there.

If the repair shop you are using tells you the muffler bearings need to be replaced and your taillight fluid was low and they topped it off you will know for sure they are scamming you.

Honda still maintains adjustable valves in a lot of their engines.

Thanks Rick.
it's a V-tec engine if that means anything? I think any problems stem from the the propane system that the dealer installed before I bought the car. in my opinion a car should run 40,000km without need of a major service and I'm fairly certain norwegian consumer protection laws will agree with me.
By the way, Rick. as far as coming in with something funny and something pretty, you went 3 for 2.

The 08 Honda Ridgeline has adjustable valve lash. the settings are Intake .008-009 and the exhaust is .011-.013
Those measurements are in inches and need to be done with an engine temp below 100deg F

TMI!

just kidding. not all of us know what to do with that information! I suppose as long as its adjustable there's a chance for them not being properly adjusted.

now to see about those exhaust bearings!

good afternoon, guys. i just woke up after a 12h night shift.

nynor 12-11-2009 01:36 PM

there is a porsche part listed as 'exhaust bearings', for the GT2, if i am not mistaken.

Rick V 12-11-2009 02:00 PM

The Dodge Viper has a part listing for a muffler bearing. So much for using that joke anymore.

For a grumpy guy, you are soft. Tell the boss to f-off.

Rick V 12-12-2009 12:26 AM

Well we only run one guy on Sat. It is the other guys turn to work. He is going through a rough divorce and is heading to N.C. to spend the weekend with his Mom. I always tell my boss to grab my bag when he wants me to work beyond the 60+ I already put in.
Don't worry I am still grumpy
