If the guy was someone she wanted to go out with, my brother would go have breakfast with the guy to make sure if the guy was someone he could trust with his daughter.

Only one guy ever called her Dad to ask for a date. When the guys found they would have to ask her Dad if they could go out with her, they declined. My brother had breakfast every Saturday morning for a year with the one guy before their first date. After a year of dating they got married and now have 8 kids.

lol, that would not have been a problem for me, i always got a long with the dads, even in those cases (most) where the daughters dragged me to their home just to piss off the parents... In fact in those cases , i typically got a long great with the mums and dads.. but the daughters then got annoyed by that, and basically dumped me for it..
Dads never worried me one bit... If they would have done the "clean my gun" routine with me.. i'de probably have told em, wait, you're doing it wrong , this is how you can take it apart the right way. (i grew up cleaning my dad's guns from the age of 9)..

Anyway, for some reason, despite my reputation as a rebel and a troublemaker, i was always classified within minutes as
"security check cleared, drinking buddy status established, daughter is a go"

She does need to tell mom to make a choice but she is afraid that mom will choose for the ex and ask her to leave.. (can you friggin believe that???)
IMO, she should leave but that is not so simple. It is for us, not for her.

Run.

Nothing a quick punch to the nuts can't cure.

svandamme 03-20-2012 07:15 AM

exactly, the girl, obviously is insecure and unable to sort out her chit.
Sucks for her, but anybody older then 30 who can't take control over his or her own destiny is either damaged goods and/or excess bagage..

any kind of relation ship as such will either require you to detach her from the old stuff,
and then attach her to yourself.. eg serious commitment.,

like picking up a stray dog that has been abused and is now scared of it's own shadow, it takes a lot of work to get things sorted out..
and frankly , no offense G but i'm thinking you're just chasing it cause she's in need of a rescue.. and the moment she's rescued and in your house you'll get bored again..

but that's my guess, what do i know other then the nutpunch cure anyway..?

About a lifetime ago I remember dating a girl and I picked her up at her house. Her dad was a ex-football player and HUGE and no fat. He filled up the front doorway. I was invited inside and sat on the couch. Her two older brothers came in and they made DAD look normal size. A brother sat on each side of me and dad looked right at me as said "you take care of my baby girl". I looked him in the eyes and said I would.

She was the wildest girl I had ever dated up to that point. I really think she wanted to get pregnant and get out of the house. I managed to avoid parenthood with careful planning and "raincoats". I always wondered what her brothers and dad did to the guy that did knock her up. I actually photographed her wedding.

Made me wonder, too.

Nothing wrong with a little cougar action...

svandamme 03-20-2012 11:21 AM

alrighty then, got the day off tomorrow, and i'm getting rid of that pile of sand and gravel.
turns out my neighbor has a bit by the side of his garage that's low, and i can dump my sand to raise the area up a bit.. It's to the side of his plot where he never even goes.. on my side, drive way of my garage. It's that pile i dug off my backyard behind my house last year..

2-3 meters, at least a foot wide, at least a foot deep. With some luck i can get ride of most of my pile in there... clear my back terras so i can build my chicken coop.

It's a good thing to have a good neighbor

I made the Dean's List this quarter.

English.... A-
Intermediate (Mechanical Engineering) Design.... A
Heat Transfer.... B
Fluid Mechanics 2.... A

GPA for the quarter 3.675

:)

svandamme 03-20-2012 11:26 AM

I made the Dean's list EVERY quarter.. unfortunately it was always his chitlist.

GH85Carrera 03-20-2012 11:29 AM

You need to study Heat Transfer with a young lady. Show her you engineering technique and how that can apply to burning up calories. Transfer some heat.

Congrats on the grades. It is not like getting a A in Music Appreciation or Basket Weaving.

Flieger 03-20-2012 11:44 AM

Funny thing is I have a "Music of the 60's" class next quarter. I'm stoked about that. Got my Steppenwolf T-shirt all ready for the first day. :)

Flieger 03-20-2012 11:48 AM

I would love to find a girl that would not be put off by me being an engineer. I keep feeling more and more like I am in my own little world. I will keep looking. Most of the girls in engineering are already taken.

Really what I'd like is a girl that I could go cycling or hiking or whatever with.

HHI944 03-20-2012 11:53 AM

I think im gonna get the jag lowered. Its just a quick adjustment to the control unit and they look mean at about 1 inch lower.

HHI944 03-20-2012 11:55 AM

Id love to find a mute girl.....

Flieger 03-20-2012 11:55 AM

I know the car mags and top gear really seem to prefer the new Jags but I always thought that era of XJ and even the S type looked good, like a Jaguar should. The only new Jag I like is the XKR. I very much prefer your Jag over the new sedans' look.

HHI944 03-20-2012 11:59 AM

Same here, it looks like a jag should just like a 911, those lines are iconic. Can you imagine the uproar if porsche did to the 911 what jag did to the xj in terms of styling??? The new xj ia an incredible car in every other aspect though.
