Good morning, fellas.

What kind of dog? My boys keep asking for a dog. Want to wait until they are a little older.

svandamme 04-03-2012 06:54 AM

get a cat dog, they are a bit smaller, have pointy ears, sharp fangs and can take of their own.
If you have a rodent problem they'll fix it for ya in no time..
They are great climbers and don't bark all the time..

svandamme 04-03-2012 06:56 AM

And typically they aren't so stupid like a regular dog.

Our dogs are very smart. This is the long hair dachshund.

14yr old yellow lab with an incredible amount of energy. He's a crazy old fart.

Hey Tweezers, my wife and I have a miniature Schnauzer. Here's a picture of her at 6 months old.

They are very smart dogs, and very lively. Totally into squirrel "hunting." More like chasing! At 3 years old, she's just under 15 lbs., about 12"-13" high at her shoulders, and maybe 18"-20" long. It's best to acclimate them to kids when they are very young puppies. Our dog was from a rescue agency, and the dogs tend to have emotional issues that take a long time to overcome. For a household with kids, I would recommend going to a reputable breeder and finding the most relaxed and happy puppy they have.

A similar sized dog that I'd also recommend is a Welsh Terrier.

Bigger dogs like Labs are great...very mellow and kid friendly.

Glen! Your dachshund is soooooo cute! We had a regular one growing up. His name was Freddy. :)

I like labs, a lot. My friend has a cavalier king Charles springer spaniel and he is about as freaking cute as your dog, Glen. I am just checking out all the breeds until I am ready to buy.

Our female short red hair dachshund still acts like a 6 year old dog. She loves to play. She is a hunter. She caught a mouse a week ago. I had just fed her and she was outside taking care of business and she caught and killed the mouse. I guess she was too full to eat it. At least there was no mouse guts. Just a whole mouse to flush.

This is her 15 years ago.

This a couple of years ago.

Tweezers, my recommendations are dogs that have hair, not fur. We don't have to contend with shedding. :)

tweezers74 04-03-2012 07:18 AM

Lol! I love all these awesome pics! HHI, I absolutely love that pic!!!!

And Jim, your schnauzer's face is priceless! What a cutie!!!

glen, you have a whole bunch of dachshunds? That last one reminds me of Freddy. :)

If you want a big dog, labs are a great way to go. They are very mild mannered and great with kids. Very smart dogs too, ours figured out how to open the gate at a very young age. Just be aware that labs act like puppies until they are about two. This means they will destroy everything in sight..... Yes everything.

GH85Carrera 04-03-2012 07:23 AM

We just have two dogs.

HHI944 04-03-2012 07:47 AM

Just got a call from the vet, everything went incredibly well, pick him up at 2

96db out here.
If the police think it may be over, they send you off for testing.
My car is not loud at idle.
However, when you back off from high RPM its like a 935. :D:D

i wish they were that polite here. guilty until proven innocent.

I actually worry about that a bit on the Ducatis. If an LEO wanted to be a stickler about it and were to write me up, I don't have stock exhausts for testing purposes and they're near unobtanium to find.

no kidding. jezebel is so loud, when i ride with other guys, they can't hear their own exhaust. i wear earbuds to cut the noise.

being on a sport bike is guilt by association around here. i got pulled over a couple of summers back (you may remember my rant). three of us were pulled over, the only guy that didn't get ticketed was the one riding the touring bike. even though we were ticketed for crossing a double yellow and he did it three times and dropped his bike doing it the second time right on the double yellow on a highway. yep, ridiculous.

What? Is it prerequisite to have a freaking awesome looking dog to be part of this thread? Beautiful pictures, RKD.

Jim Richards 04-03-2012 08:35 AM

Not all of us are famous YouTube rock stars like Markus, so, we have to fall back on doggie pictures. :D

porsche4life 04-03-2012 08:54 AM

Guess I need pics of my mutts...
