We are sending our weather to you Rick. We had bad pookie weather last week but it is some sort of purdy this weekend. Good weather on a weekend is an anomaly. Normally the weekend is crappy and Monday is wonderful.

I am tired and I still need to wash my two cars. I was sitting down to relax for a few minutes in my home office, watching the F1 qualifying and I noticed a bit of manly man smell. My wife walked up to the door and said in her diplomatic voice "you stink". I figured it was a good time to mow the back yard ;). Now I have to work up the energy to wash two cars.

If you are precise enough to shift without a clutch, with or without synchro's, but without a clutch, then going to 1st is probably not an issue. I've driven the Porsche snailshell gearbox in a 924Turbo I was thinking of buying. Owner told me not to downshift or the gears would grind. I could feel when upshifting that the synchro's were shot in several gears.

Like when Delmar Benjamin was told not to fly his Gee Bee R2 more than a few degree's of roll, I did downshift it, and it didn't grind for me, but I wasn't letting the worn/weak synchro's do their job, instead I did double clutch downshifts. On a AX, I'd do just what you did, I'd rather concentrate on having a good entry, than worrying about trying to precisely shift that gear box down to 1st. If you're not racing for millions, why hurt yer car.

All my running buddies are out of town, no one to go out with.....

My son turns 21 in early June. He wants to have a shingding out at Ayers Rock, where he works. We'll be going out their to party with him and his mates.

I have a feeling from comments that have been made from the Pelicans in Houston, that they have intentions of celebrating when I get there too...

Goodness gracious! Or if you have more sophisticated tastes, sampling all the different wines and high end liquor at a wine bar or something.

Well, Mike had to work a few extra hours of overtime so I did not get to meet him, but I did see a couple of my flickr buddies and talked to some of the POC/Pelican crowd like Duane Selby, Evan Fullerton, and of course Regan and her dad. She was pretty bubbly (yes, I did talk to her for a little while) and said she had a good time. She (well, HRG) moved her car into GT5 so no more stupid BSR rules protests and stuff. Plus she got to mix it up with faster cars. She won her class.

I found out Duane Selby went to Cal Poly Pomona for Mechanical Engineering. Actually a lot of the POC guys are engineers. I think a few more went to one of the Cal Polys as well.

And it is good to see the show of support for me in my absence from my buddies Rick and Vas. :rolleyes:

Yea I have no intention of damaging my transmission to gain a second or two at an autocross that is just for fun. I have been autocrossing since 1974 and I have never broken my car. I have worn out a lot of tires and brakes but I have never broken my car.

Poor Max! Well, show them up! Do something! :)
