Very cool shot, Max.

Here's the lexan project. Half the paint on the right side of the door was gone before the repaint. We'll see if the lexan fares any better. Thanks for the help, Dave. SmileWavy

Put a screw in the top center, or you'll regret it...

You are welcome, Alarick. Looks good. Make sure the edges are beveled.

Not a bad idea, and something I considered while putting in the screws. You know, she's never scratched that high before. Just around the doorknob was as high as she's gone. But if she's got a top edge to work on, maybe she'll try to rip out the sheet.

I took some sandpaper to the edges. Should that be enough? Or do I have to use a light grinder on it?

In the meantime, I worked on the fan housing after dinner. On the coffee table, no less. Still can't get that blasted alternator out of the fan housing. Sounds like I might just drop off the whole shebang at TRE and let them work it out. Reminds me of one of those chop shop/tuner shows on TV. They took some 944 and set out to trick it out. The guy commented that unlike the stuff he was used to working on, the Porsche was so well put together that even after he took off all the bolts it was still hard to get parts off the chassis.

Just make sure the edges are not sharp and rounded over.

I told you to leave the alternator in the an housing and let TRE deal with it . ;) It's a *****.

I know. I know. But when you've got a lump of parts sitting by the door and the kids are off to bed, it's hard to resist the temptation of complete disassembly.

You need to put the housing up on a wood blocks, and with a wood mallet(*) pound on the alternator shaft. Make sure something soft is under the alternator when it pops out. Putting it back in is no fun either. Let TRE deal with it. :)

* A block of wood - like a 2x4, between the shaft and a metal hammer works as well.

Howdy. :)

slodave 05-20-2012 10:59 PM

Avro, Vas! ;)

vas930 05-20-2012 11:00 PM

Hey, Dave.
you up for a beer?

slodave 05-20-2012 11:01 PM

Sure. ;)

Cheers, mate.

vas930 05-20-2012 11:03 PM

Becks for me. ;)

These up at 4:30 mornings for work are a killer.
Even two days a week.

slodave 05-20-2012 11:06 PM

That's too early. I'm all for banning early morning.

Someone's smoking a fatty and it isn't me.

vas930 05-20-2012 11:08 PM

hehehe :D
Must be your neighbours. ;)

slodave 05-20-2012 11:13 PM

I just can't figure out who. This is pretty close and I know my neighbors. Ah well, not complaining, but there's no mistaking the smell. :)

vas930 05-20-2012 11:16 PM

Not sure I know that smell, Dave. ;)

slodave 05-20-2012 11:22 PM

Look out your kitchen window!

I wish.

vas930 05-20-2012 11:23 PM
