Bah! How can you be prepared for anything with pants on?

Rick V 07-29-2012 03:24 PM

Well unless Tweeze is here you had better not be preparing for anything here that requires no pants

It is a framework for your own mind. Forget watching the movie, get some headphones and close your eyes and listen to the music, about six times in a row, straight through then see how you feel. Free your mind Quaid

Sometimes I feel like "Eeeeew. Worms in his brain?" and the rest of the time it is "I want to change the song to something less depressing." Watching the movie has made the songs seem to fit together more but it still is not pleasant listening to the Wall. I'd just as soong have silence. There are a few exceptions, like Comfortably Numb.

I do like songs that have meanings and stir up emotions but the Wall just doesn't do it in the right way for me.

I can see why people would commit suicide to it, actually. If they were suicidal before I could see it pushing them over the edge. But I don't think it in itself would be powerful enough to get someone to do it if they were normal before.

Who's the lame one wearing pants to a toga party? ;)

Rick V 07-29-2012 03:32 PM

I had a messed up childhood and there is a lot in that music that I can relate to, so I guess for me there might be some personal meaning behind my adoration for the work

Outback Porsche 07-29-2012 03:33 PM

hehe. Funny night that Taga party, a themed pub crawl - by the end of the night I was introducing myself to everyone (lots of dutch courage) as Nautius Maximus. My toga was absolutely filthy by the end of the night. ;)

I respect that.

As much as I sometimes like to think I have angst I don't have any serious problems. It is started in a moment of sadness and gets fed by me unless I have something else to do that is fun. Music can make it go both ways and I prefer to go the happy route.

Outback Porsche 07-29-2012 03:38 PM

Besides, Max, you should be spending more time looking at the other end of the harem. She be more your age (and I cut her BF out of the photo - he don't need to share my wimenz!)

Hehehe. :) I did notice her but the one in pants stuck out being close to the camera flash and not going with the group on the toga aspect.

Actually, you can have her if you want. I'll even waver the price of a couple of camels. Her names Karren and she's bat 5hit crazy. Sold!

What's with that? Every women I've ever known named Karren (or Karen or Caren) is bat 5hit crazy....

Sometimes you have to allow yourself to be taken down in order to appreciate being up. There is a reason the blues have been around for so long and why so many people love it. Music is so much more then just notes and words. For me it is a conduit to somewhere. Echoes, a set of headphones and a dark room with my eyes closed. It is hard to tell where I am going to wind up in my mind.
The Final Cut is another one, and in some small way The Pro's and con's of hitch hiking.

I thought something was wrong with her. She appears to have no pupils in the picture. :)

Just think Jeff you are the one who gets to break the news to the crazy lady that you sold her for the nominal fee of nothing. She looks like she can pack a punch.

I've done the lying in my bed with the music on and letting my mind wander (I end up napping). It's pretty trippy.

When I hear blues-y or otherwise sadness-inspired music I like it to have more power, though. Like Wish You Were Here. The Wall just doesn't seem to gel with me for some reason.

I am listening to Chicago Transit Authority right now, by the way. :D Feeling pretty mellow and happy. :)

OK, I have seen people complain about being forced into timeline in facebook but I still see their profiles as the old style - Rick included. What is up with that?

tweezers74 07-29-2012 04:06 PM

Hey fellas, leaving the beach and back to reality. :(

Glen, get well soon after the hip surgery. Big hugs!

And goodness gracious! You would think you fellas have never seen a woman in her bikini from your reaction to my FB photo. ;) Flattered but a lot more beautiful women on the beach. Got a lot of sun. About three shades darker. Thinking I need to get back to the beach soon. San Diego or Laguna again. Bought some sex wax and a ding kit for the surfboard. Need to get a fin and get that thing in the ocean!

Back to the grind tomorrow. Feel like you, Rick. Don't wanna go. :o/
