I kind of screwed myself in the "I can't get to work" dept. Peggy seems to like playing in the crap

The Elky does pretty good for a two wheel drive vehicle. It does have limited slip but the ground clearance is limited. It is the other morons on the road that scare me. The idiots that have a SUV and think 4 wheel drive makes the laws of physics not apply to them are the scary ones.

I love those jack wipes. I just pull over and let them go, then continue in my steady, prudent, pace. I usually get to pass them down the road while they are trying to get out of the ditch. I like to honk the horn and smile and waive as I ease on past them.

Merry Christmas boys.... We've got a good amount of s stuff here already, still coming down too....

RKDinOKC 12-25-2012 08:05 AM

I think the Rover might still work. Haven't tried it in a couple of months though.

Decent weather here in SoCal (except for yesterday when it rained a little bit--my daughter insisted on swimming in the heated pool before we left the hotel yesterday). But I haven't been able to get the 911 started since I changed the oil a few weeks ago. Cranks but won't catch. I haven't had time to work on it. I guess that'll be my project this week.

amen, glen. AWD/4WD is great for go, but whoah is still the same, regardless of the powertrain.

Nipple lube score!

nice!

porsche4life 12-25-2012 09:04 AM

4wd and a lower gear will help with woah....

nynor 12-25-2012 09:11 AM

sid, the key there is knowing what you are doing. i'd give the percentage of those that know what they are doing with their AWD/4wd vehicle at about 2%. and i think i am being generous.

porsche4life 12-25-2012 09:17 AM

Very good point. Slow and steady with lots of space....

Glad you liked. :) Though it was funny I got somebody from this thread so it was perfect! Granted, your wife and everybody else might think otherwise. Don't you love the name? What is it? Something like Powerglide? Can't remember. Merry Christmas everybody!

Porsche-poor 12-25-2012 09:48 AM

Attempting to upload the picture now and no not modeling the "Glide"

GH85Carrera 12-25-2012 10:05 AM

Meteors? Comets? Fat guys in red suits?

Nice score David. It'll slip and slide, it's Powerglide. :p

Frozen stuff is falling. It is way lower than predicted and way less total accumulation. :)

well, you have THAT going for you.

GH85Carrera 12-25-2012 01:58 PM

Yea, travel should not be bad tomorrow. It is going to be 9F or -13C for you metric folks in the morning. I am glad I have a good heater in the Elky. Back when I did my engine swap I cracked a solder joint on the old heater core. The new one is way better like twice as much heat.

nynor 12-25-2012 02:07 PM

9F? how often does it get that cold, there, glen?

RKDinOKC 12-25-2012 02:30 PM

My ol Jimmy 4x4 WITHOUT that ABS junk would whoa just as quickly as it would go. Just locked up with the left foot and hold, shift to reverse, floor it, then let off the brake. STOPS!!! unnervingly quickly on snow, ice, icey snow. Not recommended at all for dry or even merely wet pavement due to the transition from locked up to spinning tires in reverse to direction of travel.

DO NOT attempt in ABS equipped 4x4 as the ABS will not allow you to bring and/or hold the drivetrain at a full stop with the vehicle in motion. This does not allow the ability to shift the trainmission from D forward to R reverse with vehicle in motion.

I have not tried disabling the ABS in any of my ABS equipped 4x4 vehicles to attempt this adverse traction stopping technique in said vehicles.
