Yeah Jim, I try to keep up with what is happening in the rest of the world through the internet, but if the TV is on in the morning, some of the supposed "news" is just sheeet!

Jim Richards 01-28-2013 04:43 AM

We use the TV for the music channels as much as for anything else. Pathetic, I know.

azzarule 01-28-2013 04:44 AM

I think the problem with the TV news is that it is still required to be high ratings by the TV executives, and apparently that means it has to be entertaining, not newsworthy. People apparently don't want to watch real TV news. They would rather watch Reality TV sheeeet!

Three more posts to go to hit the big 1K, Azzy.

I watch the good cooking shows, so Hubby never knows what he is going to get for dinner, problem is that sometimes I just make something, don't take note of the TV show, and if he likes it, I can't remeber exactly how to make it, or what channel I was watching lol

Jim Richards 01-28-2013 04:55 AM

My wife's the same way. But, she's more likely to wing it every time she makes something. She's an "intuitive" cook, and has more hits than misses. She hasn't poisoned me yet (knock on wood). :D

Back in May of 1999 Oklahoma CIty had a F-5 tornado. It was the highest wind speed ever recorded on earth 302 MPH or 486 KPH! It literally scoured the ground and pulled up grass roots and all. It was bad, very bad.

Only 48 people were killed. Several of them because they were misinformed and thought a highway overpass was a good place to shelter from a tornado. We had several HOURS of warning. We watched it live on TV and knew block by block where it was.

In fact we had a days of warning that a bad storm was brewing and to be vigilant about the weather that day. The local media did a great job of warning everyone.

The national media made it sound like the the entire city was destroyed. We never even lost power in our part of the city.

Jim Richards 01-28-2013 10:44 AM

Well Glen, you and I are too boring to keep this high up on page 1. Facts are facts. :D

GH85Carrera 01-28-2013 10:47 AM

nynor 01-28-2013 11:04 AM

snowboarding was glorious. time to go tutor a student.

GH85Carrera 01-28-2013 11:23 AM

No snowboarding around here but this video was just sent to me.

Maybe I should not post this. I don't want a bunch of folks moving here and causing traffic jams. I like my commute with no traffic.

Jim Richards 01-28-2013 11:32 AM

Don't worry Glen. Your city is safe from me.

GH85Carrera 01-28-2013 11:34 AM

Hi all,
went gold panning over the Australia Day long weekend. One tiny fleck is all we found, so back to work it is for me today :(
