RKDinOKC 03-06-2013 08:59 AM

Are you VA (or MD) folks getting a lot? We keep alternating between rain and s*** downtown, and so far, no accumulation.

Yes...look at Rick's picture. We have had probably about 8-10 inches and almost zero visibility at times, but since it is warm, only about 4-6 inches on the ground. Roads are pretty passable due to temps...mostly slush. The trains did not run this morning.

I think Rick is without power based on a FB post.

Jim Richards 03-06-2013 09:38 AM

That sucks

yes says it won't be back on until about 8pm. Sounds like the rest of the family is in the same boat, all hugging to keep warm, lol. Mental picture on that one is making me laugh! Not funny though not to have power, but am sure the Rick has got it covered.

If any of you don't have a Calvin and Hobbes book to brighten a icey day...I feel sorry for you. :(

Noah930 03-06-2013 09:50 AM

I had a good friend in college who would finish her finals early in the 2-week finals period. She would then take a Calvin and Hobbes into the library and read it to make the rest of us feel jealous 'cause we were still slogging away.

Jim Richards 03-06-2013 10:20 AM

My son got me and my wife hooked on Calvin and Hobbes. I think we have two or three C&H books at home.

Somebody please say hi to Rick for me and that I hope he and his family are managing alright without power.

Porsche-poor 03-06-2013 10:27 AM

sent him a text.

Calvin is cool. But I like Bloom County.

Jim Richards 03-06-2013 10:29 AM

Far Side for me. I have this coffee cup:

Another good one.

Rick says "my kingdom for a cord of wood"

Jim Richards 03-06-2013 10:34 AM

Hahaha! Or a generator!

Porsche-poor 03-06-2013 10:39 AM

yep! I have a 5000 watt gen. I have the only heat on the block when the power goes out.

Jferr006 03-06-2013 10:43 AM

13000 watt generator. :) we bought it after the last hurricane knowing we'll make good use out of it at some point.

RKDinOKC 03-06-2013 10:43 AM

That needs to be a project for me. Lived in this house for 15 years and have never even opened the flu or struck a match near the wood burning fireplace in the living room. Need to have a good chimney sweep come check it out and maybe stack some wood on the patio before next winter, just in case.

My power has never been out more than a couple of hours. What we usually have to worry about knocking out power is January ice storms.

Porsche-poor 03-06-2013 10:48 AM

For us its the wind.
